US GQ September 2008 : James Franco by Nathaniel Goldberg

Nothing about James's cover and inside photographs say Fall / Winter to me, but regardless, interesting pick for a September cover. I actually thought they'd stop at Seth Rogen for their promo of "Pineapple Express." Guess not.

A tad homoerotic, no? I mean for a men's magazine to put a sexy actor in wet tee's and midriff-baring shirts for the fall issue seems a little strange..

The ed is better than the cover but oh well. James is so so lovely. I love that he looks like a try-to-hard, wannabe actor and he was in the Spiderman films but has an absolutely wicked sense of comedy and comedic timing, and does a lot of interesting projects. I adored him in F&G and pretty much anything Judd Apatow related that he's done

Well...it is a men's magazine and some men are gay so it's hardly strange that they'd incorporate that into their edits some times. Any guy who cares about GQ is at least metro by ordinary man-on-the-street standards.

Cover looks weird to me but his face comes off much better in the edit.

Well, they did proclaim that James F. is the next James D., so it's only fitting that he wears clothes reminiscent of the legend. Like I said, nothing that says Fall at all, but at least the edit is as straightforward as it gets.
