US GQ Summer 2023 : Ryan Gosling by Gregory Harris

Wish they did a shirtless shot....damn....

Im glad they didn't do the Ken way but if they did Mert and Marcus were more suitable...i think that it's not GQ...and least not the US.

If we are lucky, we can get maybe for W or V or any other mag...
Exactly what I was thinking haha ... A missed opportunity
I like the cover and the editorial. He exudes sexiness! All I missed from GQ

I've never been remotely attracted to him, but these gay Chuck Norris drag pictures, are really something.

At the end of the day I feel great, because I'm true to myself liking this after the criticism. And makes me more happy that every member here has a different opinion and all of them should be respected. Sometimes I feel the opposite, I don't like at all something that everybody pushes for it. I prefer to say my truth that being fake because I don't fit the expectations or the political correction. Freedom is also liking whatever you want, no matter the trends, the time, the popularity.

It’s rather tacky to have him styled as Ken doll. So ye love this

it's a very forgettable shoot - i don't think i like a beard on ryan. that deep cleavage, tight sleeves and slim jeans on the other hand...

I feel the same every single time many people here will love a Jenner / Kardashian / Paloma Elsesser cover LOL but I stay true to what I prefer: classic old school 90's and 00' supermodels.
But hey : that's why I love debating and reading everyone's point of view here, no matter if they are light years away from my visual fashion preferences or what each of us call ''beauty'' or ''interesting.
That's why the Fashion industry is so cool for me: we all see one runway, one campaign, one cover and we have 20 000 impressions of them all.

It’s very much Cowboy Ken.

The photography is tops. It really is good to see this brand of mature, strong mood, even cinematic and storytelling production, return to American GQ (meanwhile, GQ China and Mexico have been producing cinematic stories all along). The saturated palette is grating though, and would have worked so much stronger in B&W. But the imagery is classic gay fodder and classic Americana camp that’s in the traditional of (oppressed) 1950s homoeroticism. Camp doesn’t have to be an oiled up cowboy in a boa and daisy dukes riding a giant mirrored ball by LaChapelle. Good to see gay imagery that isn’t cheap, loud and juvenile.

(I just can’t unsee Chuck Norris in this now, Lola LOOL ..Which really vamps up the camp...)

I'm really surprised that people aren't seeing the obvious camp in this editorial. Is it something I immediately recognize because I'm from like... ~Western North America~ (well, the western part of Canada), where I feel like this "western" cowboy cosplay culture is something certain men delude themselves into thinking exists? It's very lonesome gay cowboy out on the range!!

^^^ I can share a thing or ten about real gay cowboys— especially come Calgary Stampede time…

But yes, this sort of some lonesome cowboy out on the range is gay Americana played with a straight face. You know, if this were the good o’l days of L’UOMO, the lonesome cowboy would eventually be joined by a cast of beautiful men (all styled in DSqaured2 and various stages of undress likely…). But ghey Chuck Norris cowboy is still good enough. I’ll take it.

(Just don't get the appeal of Ryan. But I suppose ever since he starred in that musical, his stock value with women and their ghey BBF went sky-high. Eh...)

The Calgary Stampede is literally what I was thinking of.... :grinningsquinting:

that orange is atrocious either is bad photoshop or bad make up, heads should roll.

I like parts of it where the cowboy spirit is better used/ seen and I’d totally wish they had gone less Chuck Norris (thanks Lola!) and more Lucky Luke.
I will always swoon for a lonesome cowboy.
