US Vanity Fair May 2009 : Gisele Bündchen by Mario Testino

Considering that some of the discussion was beginning to turn into an argument over whether or not she has horseface, I personally don't see where that is productive. Granted, as I said earlier I like that Gisele has a face that is debatable and I like that there are voices of dissent with regards to her status as most beautiful but in my opinion it was starting to turn into

"she's pretty"

"no she's not, she's ugly."

"yes she is pretty omg ur just jellus!!"

and is it really pushing discussion forward? I don't really think so. There should be talk about the choice of Gisele as most beautiful but if it's going to be some sort of pointless back and forth then I don't really see the point. We can agree to disagree on this but that was what I was referring to within my original comment on off topic discussion within this thread.

I love the "How I'll solve the financiel crisis" coverline, with the text that follows

I would agree on what Luxx said, definitely beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
there would be endless debates about whether a face is beautiful or not.

Even Angelina can be called ugly by some people

So debates about Gisele's "horseface" would be pointless, I personally find Gisele's personality
most beautiful :flower:

Yeah me too  I understand people are passionate about the most beautiful woman in the world... but IMO VF was trying to have some fun with it. At least that's what I got from the way they presented it.

I personally find people's different views on beauty highly interesting. And it seems to be the main point of this issue of the magazine.

Overall, I think it's more interesting that they chose such boring and predictable women as the "armada launchers"...honestly....I guess People would have had about the same list, save a name or two, Kate Hudson instead of Catherine Deneuve, basically.

Of course, they're kidding about the financial crisis, which is all well and good, but could they not have tried to have a BIT more taste in their choices...not top twenty gossip hags. And I think Gisele with her thin hips is a great choice for the cover, she has looked fantastic on VF covers before....but was it necessary to make her look like an olympic male swimmer?

Yes, debating beauty on such a boring level is the black hole that Vanity Fair hopes people will fall into with this issue, to get them emotionally involved with the contents, but not thinking too much, because people don't like having to think, and certainly not in a recession.

It's provocation to assist sales - and when you come from a thread detailing US Esquire's latest innovation in cover design (which doesn't involve women at all) you know they could have been a lot more intelligent with their sales pitch, and still caught people's eyes on the newsstand.

I'll be glad to receive my subscription copy, simply to see Gisele; I'll be disregarding the idiot words written around her by the magazine.

Views are definitely interesting, but debates...eh  No one is going to change anyone else's mind in this thread, I imagine

tigerrouge I completely agree - it's such a ploy on behalf of VF's part. The strangest attempt at "remaining optimistic about our world," I would say.

I don't like to sound showbizz or anything but I think every one on that list is in their own way is beautiful. Anyway, I'm happy they put Gisele on the cover! :flower: The cover is gorgeous! **** the haters!

Here's the UHQ scans of Gisele's 10-page editorial from the issue (minus the articles).

thanks for your scans! It's a great ed.

Any other edits? Technically, no. Most of what's in the issue are plastered on the front page. There's an article that compares Teddy Roosevelt to Obama and another article that shows off Brad Pitt and his co-stars from the new Tarantino movie "Inglorious Bastards".

The rest is mostly a bunch high-class political gobbledygook that you would only understand IF you had a Harvard degree. But then again, isn't that the case in every issue of VF?

^I don't have a Harvard degree, I don't even have a degree.

The 'high class political gobbledygook' is exactly why I buy Vanity Fair.

kroqjock your scans don't work for me
