US Vanity Fair September 2008 : Carla Bruni by Annie Leibovitz

Call me crazy but I thought she was known as a former 90's supermodel and nothing more. The American public barely knows of this woman. This is almost worst than their Hollywood Issue with unknown actors/actresses.

carla is actually well known in the states for marrying sarkozy, much more so than just for being a 90s supermodel. as for the hollywood issue with unknown actors/actresses - it was the "young hollywood issue," not the hollywood issue, so the point is to feature up and coming actors who may not be very well known.

I think that's the point... VF & the influential powers that be... obviously for political reasons that can't be discussd here want the American public to know who she is & those that do know who she is to know more about her... which is exactly why she got the cover. Maureen Orth is an excellent writer... and regardless of whether you agree with it or not... you can't deny they [Sarkozy, Cécilia & Bruni] make a compelling story & that sells magazines... this issue is going to get lots of publicity on the US news channels & people are going to buy it.

exactly...
and when better to introduce her to the u.s. than the biggest issue of the year...

meg, i don't think it's a bad cover at all, just unexpected...
i like the way she's portrayed on the cover, it's understated with an air of aristocracy...

I thinks it´s a good cover, not the best it could be but OK.

Carla rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but I don´t know why. Honestly I don´t know why...

She´s had surgery...like tons of other actresses and models.
She´s a bit of a boy´s girl...like a lot of girls, and she harms nobody.
SHe married a politician....well like a lot of other women, and many actresses and models marry equally powerful entrepreneurs and actors, without being as demonized as her

She sings well, she´s educated, but she pisses everybody around.

Why oh Why???

There are a number of wives would would beg to disagree with your statement.

I think the cover and the ed are gorgeous. She is a beautiful woman.
However, she needs to shut the **** up!!!
I am sick and tired of her and her husband w***ing the Republic in gossip rags and glossies to sell themselves and her crappy new CD.
Someone need to teach them some dignity.

Oh and some quotes from the interview:

"It is incredible. I was Italian, how can I be first lady of France?"
"There is a picture of Mrs de Gaulle serving soup to her husband. I do that too sometimes but I wouldn't be photographed doing it.":innocent:

This said, I'll buy it, the contents look fabulous.

This cover is good timing with Barbara Walters new interview airing this week. That should introduce her to a lot of Americans, especially since she is promoting it heavily on The View all week.

I agree, she´s sometimes a bit cheeky, she could use a bit of silence sometimes. Adultery is not murder, and I think the main offender is the married party, not the outsider.... but flaunting it is not tasteful at all. Dating married guys is not a good thing, or at least not a feather in your cap.

Anyhow, I don´t know why in this special thread some posters arrived to the point where they said Carla looked like a drag queen.

C´mon! She´s certainly not Miss congeniality nor best-friend material, but saying she´s ugly is a bit too much.

^My remark was meant to be humorous. I agree with your philosophie.
Some people are bound to find her unatractive.

Well, she looks beautiful on the cover but it really is boring.

Oh I think I'll buy this... I really like Carla, I don't understand all the hatred people feel toward her :innocent:

and didn't they just feature one of the new bond girls in exactly the same type of setting and outfit as carla on the cover? the styling is getting really tired...

Not to mention similar styling on this cover: :ninja:

I like her style and her music. I don't think she's the new Jackie O., b/c the two are very different and have very different styles. Carla is more of a Dior girl.

she's quite stylish though, and I look forwards to seeing her fashion choices.

I thinking was Christy T., Cindy C., Claudia S., Linda E., Naomi C. & Stephanie S. on the cover.
