I always feel bittersweet seeing young Britney, looking so happy and full of life, and to think of all the stuff she went through years later. Poor girl, she should have been protected so much better.

Not too sure I actually ever saw the cover though, surprisingly, I do know the first shot in the editorial but had no idea this was from a Vogue shoot. She looks so different compared to the rest of the era as well (this was during the release of Slave/Britney album)!

Cover without text and I assume an outtake (it was also shot by Herb Ritts and the page says it's from Vogue 2001)

BTW Britney looks amazing, don't listen to her music anymore but I'll always love her

Never cared for Arthur's work as they were always so so so commercial and best suited for a lifestyle publication, or midrange department-store holiday catalogue rather than high fashion. This is probably the first of his shoots I really like.

Wow, looking back, what a great issue! And shout out to the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards. Honestly, would buy a DVD boxed set of the ceremonies if released.

This was the second issue of Vogue I ever bought! I remember it so well -- such a great issue, and it's where I first learned about Bruce Weber (there was a story in here about one of his films). Depressing to see what this magazine is now compared to what it used to be.
