Probably the cover with the most reprints by other editions of Vogue.
-Vogue Australia December 1996
-Vogue Taiwan December 1996
-Vogue Korea January 1997
-Vogue España January 1997

To me this cover is one of her best. Her Evita period was one of the most beautiful of her career, the clothes were so dramatic and flamboyant yet elegant. She has gone through so many incarnations but it remains one of my absolute favorites of hers. She always looks stunning in front of Meisel's lens but this retro look is so perfect–something I wish she'd revisit now.

Stunning editorial, one of the best Madonna photoshoot's.

^^^ I remember how much I poured over and over this story; so full of soulful character, Southern warmth and cultural charm— but never in your face about it being about Black style with an entirely Black cast (like it would be nowadays).

So effortlessly elegant, Southernly conservative and classic and still welcoming and open. The imagery swirls playfully, easily, stylishly, from a-day-in-the-life of a charming, irresistibly chic Southern family. It’s just a fashion shoot, but I feel like I’ve visited and made welcome by this cast/family already. Tyler and Nadine couldn’t conjure such a rich and simple story without relying on their representation gimmicks if their lives depended on it.
