^^^ Gorgeous cast-- including Karla nd Hedi. Gorgeous everything. Sadly ruined by Ben through and through.

Did she retouch her old work for the book or was it paper and printing quality of Vogue that made her work looks less fake and bright? Always loved this ed, but never bought the issue to see it in person

from her Wonderland book

^^^ LOL the Stella shot is so terrible. What’s wrong with Annie???

Stock wouldn’t determine the color balance output. Her book versions absolutely had terrible post work done. I get the impression Annie may have wanted a painterly approach, wherein the subject would be basking in near-unnatural light to stand out from the setting. But this sort of principle (that I still remember some teachers insisted when I was in university) doesn’t work for a photographic image: Stella looks like a sticker slapped onto the background… Oftentimes now, it’s unfortunate to see such awful retouching/post accepted as the standard these days. This, and Rafael’s consistently awful, amateur post is plastered all over Vogues/campaigns, and people will not question how awful and cheap it all looks.

The actual issue was 100% better than what we saw online. Colors much richer and the images were just more crisp.
