Never been an admirer of late-80s/early-90s American Vogue; it’s just so stuffy and unformly-conservative. The quality of the covershot of Naomi is alarmingly poor— like those tabloid rags that feature a paparazzi shot of an unsuspecting celeb captured with a telescoping lens.

But Greats like Bruce, Herb and Helmut genuinely own their talent by standing out with such timeless imagery-- and such an ease of signature: You can tell right away that those campaigns are theirs and theirs alone. Even the fashions and styling of the times can’t overpower their trademark vision. They were and remain such Greats.
