I don't know who she is (maybe because I'm not American and I don't follow basket) but I like the First cover (this Versace dress It Amazing)it's a beautiful cover and the editorial is not bad either... I would have preferred an actress from the film awards season

Unexpected cover subjects. The pictures doesn't look bad, but still not my kind of jam. Another cover from the bunch of ones over the recent years that makes me feel the same, nothing in between happy or mad. I only celebrate the representation. And their bodies look amazing. Quite confused it's called "Winter Issue" when the looks makes me think more about spring.

How lackluster! Don't even know who these people are.

Why do I even look forward to finding out who's on their cover anymore??!!

Once again, Anna Wintour is so delusional she thinks she's at the helm of Sports Illustrated.

American Vogue really struggles to create beautiful imagery when it comes to black athletes... What happened to stunning covers such as Marion Jones by Annie Leibovitz?

is Winter Jan and Feb? if so, Black sports starts for Black history month. i love it.

what i don't love is angel's wonky eye on the cover and i wish she didn't shut her insta down before this cover came out but oh well. and she's in a red dress, anna's signature editor's color. gabby has powerful track star legs and the better spread. her pictures remind me of tina turner in vanity fair by michal comte. of course francis was included - anna sure loves tennis and coco was featured already.

i'm happy to see these people, but it doesn't hit the mark. at least roy shot this instead of ethan james green. the things to be thankful for...

The women who read Vogue US cares about basketball? I have doubts lol

We can congratulate Anna for introducing them to it tho
Oh you would be very surprised to see who is at the court sides of those NBA games. Even more considering the fact that the wives of those team owners and people from the executive side knows about those people.

You can’t have a superficial POV on fashion today. Fashion has infiltrated all the circles of power.

It makes more sense to have a female athlete on the cover than Roger Federer…Even though it helped him a lot.

I’m sure the « women who reads Vogue » knows more about the female athletes than the models in the pages of the magazine or the new faces actresses she likes to put sometimes.

@MModa there's nothing special about most Vogue US covers these days, so that's an odd standard to judge them by imo
For me personally, a few of their recent covers look a bit more exciting than this. However, this one does absolutely nothing for me.

To paraphrase JFK, ask not what a Vogue cover can do for you, but what you can do for a Vogue cover.

Jk, jk. Anna gets criticism for putting her tried and true favs on the cover (Sienna, Gaga, Blake) but when she puts someone new on the cover it’s all “lol who???” It’s a pivot or moment for women’s sports in the US, a change to further legitimize or popularize them and I think putting them on a Vogue cover isn’t a bad idea, especially because both of the women chosen are tall and sort of modelesque. They don’t look out of place, to me.

Of course it’s fine to not care for a cover or a cover subject (I’ll keep my opinions to myself but I personally really like one of these cover subjects and can’t stand the other lol) but I often find the “I don’t know who this person is, so they don’t deserve a cover” a bit annoying. I’d argue most Vogue readers don’t know models by name unless they’re a nepo baby or a Supermodel. A mix of new faces and familiar stars seems appropriate to me.

Who is their target audience? This choice lacks mass appeal. Demi Moore is the hottest actress right now—why isn’t she on the cover? Instead, they chose an athlete? Imagine the impact Demi could have had and how many issues they could sell with her. Is Anna intentionally trying to sabotage Vogue? She seems completely out of touch with the times.

If you're going to put a WNBA player on the cover, ar least put the one the public knows/cares about.

......but didn't put Simone Biles on the cover? Angel definitely serves in her cover.
Gabby is very gorgeous, so it's very curious to see that her cover was decided upon in this manner. To have her facing away in the decided shot? I know atheletes are not models, but with good direction they can get the shot.
