Uses for Aloe Vera Gel ?

It can lighten up scars and marks, but since it's all natural I suppose the healing will take quite some time :flower:

when I have red eyes, I put a piece of refrigerated aloe vera with skin removed over my eyes (and keep my eyes opened). It works fantastically

My sister buys 100% aloe vera (on Amazon, I think) and uses it as hair gel, as it does not clog pores the way many other products do. It doesn't look as greasy or stiff afterwards, either. I sometimes use it on my face at nighttime in place of night cream.

I've seen gallons of it for sale in health food stores and know some people drink it. I can't possibly imagine what the benefits of doing that are!

My mother uses A.V., the natural plan. I know the natural A.V. is used to fade blemishes, when ref. to the skin & to clear up blotchiness & skin colour. IMO, it doesn't work that great b/c i've used A.V. for blemishes from burns & they have NOT faded. You also have to use it for a long time, like Cocoa butter. However, you're talking about the gel & i'm talking about the natural plan so i guess it probably differs since the gel probably has way more chemicals & such. :innocent:

I have combination skin, oily that tends to dehydrate in winter and I use aloe vera as a moisturizer. Once you get used to the skickiness, it is just fab. And makes foundation application very easy too.

I read somewhere that aloe vera can be used to moisturize your hair.

My dad drinks it to reduce inflammation in his shoulders and knees. can't imagine it's too delicious.... :ninja:

I use it after waxing... and I find the smell calming.

^ o, they make a sweet refreshing drink out of aloe vera that u find at asian & health stores. he prob has that cos its quite known. id rather eat green veges! :D

Seriously, my skin has never been that great before I tried aloe. Haha, I sound like a bad rep.

It's just fantastic for your skin, period. My face overall has no problems other than being slightly prone to dryness, and the gel works very well as a cleanser/moisterizer. I don't have any to use at the moment, but for a while it was all I used on my face, and worked nicely. My arms however, are extremely dry; I can't remember the name of the specific condition, but it's basically simply dry skin - my arms have little bumps on them. I was told aloe vera gel would return my arms to normal. It didn't, though it did make a slight difference. Considering even the prescription moisterizer and others I had tried on advice hadn't done anything, either, a slight difference is enough to make me think it might work for some people, at the very least. Also, I used it as a lip balm, just smearing a bit on my lips, and it worked nicely.
My only complaint is that it's apt to be quite sticky. I'd usually use it at night.

^so you use aloe for your body too?
what are some improvements to the skin aloe does?
b/c my mother used it & i see no improvement :innocent:
but like i stated before, it could be b/c it's the natural plant,
although i would think that would be better

Aloe vs. Cocoa Butter? :p

^^^ From my understanding, you can use aloe anywhere. I think, also, since your facial skin is the most delicate, anything that can be used on the face can be used on the body, but I could be wrong. There's also aloe vera liquid that's ingested and is suppossed to do more nice things for the body from the inside out.
Cocoa Butter is a lot thicker of a moisterizer, less multi-purpose. I wouldn't use it on my hair, and be wary of applying it to my face.

^thanks for the reply. so are you saying that you can use aloe even in your hair? :o

What aloe liquids do you suggest, meaning specific brands.

I do agree that if you can use something on your face & it works well, you might as well use it on your body :p
