Hi!

I'm an Interior Decorator & I typically work with around
4 clients a month, so I wanted a wider range of opinion.

I was wondering what you might think about this trend.

The hottest color for 2006 is ORANGE!

Here’s a nice picture:

(nothing for sale at this site)

What is your reaction to using this color in your home?

Have you jumped on this trend?

If so, what have you done that looks great and what has been a disaster?

I would love to know what you think.

Yours,
- Melisa

thanks for the picture, and welcome to the forum!! :flower:

I agree with tiamaria, if you have the right accessories it could be nice. Not exactly in my personal taste, but for someone more funky than I, I can certainly imagine it! With some pink and white accessories and the right shade of orange it could work! I think it also depends on what room/size/shape of the room as well. I can actually imagine it in like a city kitchen. But then again isn't orange an appetite supressant? pshh I donno. I'd like an orange kitchen.

orange... it kind of makes me think of what happened in The Yellow Wallpaper

Orange is a strong colour. I think as long as you use it sparingly, and with neutral colours (like neutral greys, etc.) so that your eyes can rest, it will be alright. It can be used an accent. White and black can also enhance it.

I've never seen an orange room, but I have seen one thick orange border surrounding a kitchen as an accent and it looked pretty nice. It looked modern and energetic.
There's also a house nearby that has one side all orange and then on the other side, there is less orange (they used lines of orange instead of big patches of it). The colour's broken up with borders of black and white/grey, an iron black gate, and also with something like cobblestones placed on the walls. There is a lot of greenery as well around the yard, and it goes so well with the orange. I think this house looks the best compared to the rest of the houses on its street, and it always catches my attention when I walk by.
