V Magazine #133 Winter 2021 : Madonna by Steven Klein

The cover is quite amazing. The ed however... not only the concept is predictable, her face is looking bizarre. It's like she's wearing a mask. Sad that she took it this far.

Speaking of masks, this is almost reminiscent of Steven Meisel's 'Face the Future' story from Vogue Italia's September 2012 issue with Carolyn Murphy.

I thought the same thing! Which makes this all the more frightening...

They wanted so bad to recreate their iconic W’s shot from 2008 but with less, less, less budget.

This being said, the last 3 photos are stunning. I wish the retouching was more like Steven’s brand, like he did with the Madame X promo. She looked young but more natural than this. This doesn’t look like Steven’s work, looks more like Giampaolo Sgura doing Mert and Marcus doing Steven Klein. Btw I adore how her boobs look.

The second cover is unnecessary.

I think she'd look so much better if she got another facelift and just dissolved the excess fillers... like in 2012. Her face looked good that year.

Madonna Forever...

.... with this Concept

That bed cover is absolutely breathtaking, and instantly ICONIC.
The other covers are also stunning, particularly the subscriber one.
I love that it was inspired by the last sitting, with Bert and Marilyn, but not a shot for shot copy. Madonna always has to be Madonna.
She really knows how to pull off vintage glam, without looking like she's playing dress up.
Her and Klein really are a great artistic duo. He truly understands her power. They never disappoint.

There's just no one like Madonna. No one has her energy, and no one has her fearlessness. She stands alone. Your favs worship her, but none of them will ever be like her.

Oh, and the interview is AMAZING! Her best in a long while, tbh.

Didn't bother to read any of the replies in this thread, because I'm pretty sure the comments are the same tiresome drags, about Madonna. Who needs that negativity before the weekend.

Why. Won't. She. Pack. It. In?
Damn it, where is the clap emoji when you need it!

Honestly, how many times have we seen this? Yeah ok, so the photography, concept, and whatever styling one can gauge from this is flawless. But who is asking for this in 2021? Erotica is over years ago. The ship has sailed. Just age gracefully. This is the difference between Madonna and Sharon/Jane. The latter two are confident in their age and they embrace nudity, but in a tasteful manner that befits their age. They don't do it to trend on Insta.

It's interesting that Madonna only appears on magazines whose EICs are her superfans. They all want to relive their memories of fanboying her. It's comical. Who are the women editors who give her covers? Glenda Bailey who had no taste?
Maybe it's because female editors realise what a caricature she has become and want nothing to do with that.

I just don't understand.

She is beautiful without all of this Photoshop and CGI.

Why can't we just appreciate her in how she really looks? What type of fantasy are they trying to create with this? It's so off-putting.

Madonna always came off as someone who loved attention and actively courted it. She loved the press and the press loved her right back. For many years it was a match made in Heaven. Alas, the press finally moved on and now we have a different picture. Not that of a woman who loves the attention she constantly receives but a woman desperate for the attention she once had. This doesn’t remind me of Marilyn, 1992 Madonna was a modern Marilyn. This is a 2021 version of Gloria Desmond.

i need all those images being published without any photoshop, as much as i love her,i think the past 10 years are such a mess, almost not a remarcable song from her last 3/4 albums, her last amazing era was with Confessions on a Dance Floor. this is way too much photoshop as what she do with her instagram posts and videos, Cher having so much plastic is still much more good looking even being older than Madoona.

Madonna looks more like Rita Ora paying tribute to Madonna than Madonna herself here.

Next.
