I saw Vahina for the first time at this year's Cannes Film Festival. She had a beautiful face and I was curious to find out more.
She's a French actress who made her film debut in the 1997 release Marie Baie des Anges at the tender age of 15.

Here is Vahina at the Christian Lacroix show 6 July 2006.

Her style looks deceptively simple here. The white flower in the hair, is reminiscent of Billie Holiday, such a beautiful touch.

"The casting director spotted Vahina on a beach at Marseilles. I had her do some screen tests which were incredible. She was thirteen and a half and knew how to act anything. She had a rare beauty, the real character of a girl from the South, and she was also a dancer for the Marseilles Opera. We had already seen 7000 girls and then she showed up, like an extraordinary reward for our work..."

Listen up all you folks in Britain!

A few years ago I watched an incredible documentary called French Beauty, dealing more specifically with cinema goers fascination with French actresses. It's an absolute must-see, including interviews with Bardot, Deneuve as well as Tautou and Marceau among many others. It is now being repeated so don't miss it!
