There is no doubt that Valentina is an exceptionally beautiful woman but I cannot see how she was chosen for Ralph Lauren.

I guess, it's really more about marketing. Valentina's look appeals to a wider audience. I'm sure Ralph Lauren must choose their models very carefully because of the money involved.

These models represent the face, the image of a company that pulls in billions of dollars each year.

I miss the days of Bridget Hall but times and markets change.

Regards

^ I didn't get now for what reason you think Val's not good enough for Ralph Lauren??
It can't be because she's not very "special looking" because Bridget Hall's beauty was very similar to Valentinas!

I never said she wasn't good enough. She is the right girl for the right age.

Ralph Lauren no longer wants a girl who looks like she hangs out at the Hamptons and goes on picnics with guys from Ivy League Colleges.

They want someone like Valentina who appeals to a global audience - Russia, China etc.

I'm just saying...well, don't worry, I can't keep trying to explain it. :)

I get what you are saying. To take it a step further, RL doesn't want a GIRL. He wants a woman. A young yet sophisticated woman, with wealth, polish, refinement, etc. Valentina's look embodies all of that. To appeal to the global audience, the look must be carefully chosen and edited. Not too patrician, too Ivy League, or too American. There is nothing wrong with that. RL is an aspirational brand around the world, and Valentina's look just works everywhere - US, Latin America, Europe, etc.
