i think that madonna accurately reflects how versace looks on many women of her age and income bracket. it's very honest...(not very flattering, but honest)...:D

well if that was their intention, it's no wonder the ads are such a failure.
Who aspires to looking exactly what their "age/income bracket" dictates? Fashion advertising is all about fantasy, aspiration, beauty...the non-achievable. This is what makes people part with cash.

I love these old Versace ads....I'd be happy to see this kind of thing run again and the Madonna ones to go in the shredder.

Firstly the saturation of that series of ads is simply abhorrent. It resembles some overdone digital photograph which is distinctly what it is. Digital photography has that artificial look.

Secondly the poses are contrived while trying to appear nonchalant.

Thirdly Madonna's look, and attitude is rather lacking. Though the clothing, and bag are rather lacking in substance. Making everything gold doesn't excuse anything.

I am under the impression that Nadja Auermann should be hired for some acidic fashist b*tch campaign with the requisite bleached coiffure. Intimidating, and wholly catering to a entirely secular plane. Overdone, and overhyped.

The previous campaigns from 2001 were much better.

As well as the 2000 set.

The black and white Atelier Versace ads are from 1998, I think.

the old atelier versace ones with madonna were from 1995

they paid her 10.5 million for the campaign. thats the biggest waste of money EVER for versace, especially seing as they are in financial trouble

Liberty meant the ads posted on page six of this thread, with Devon Aoki and Emily Sandberg, from 1998. But thanks for that little tidbit nonetheless. :flower:
