God— I remember just staring, staring, staring, completely being mesmerized, and lost in those hauntingly smouldering Cesare images by Luis and Tse’s by Bruce (…never knew they were by Bruce BTW!). That was the power and creative talents that gave us these gorgeous cinematic glimpses into transcendent worlds: Beautiful, serene, eerie, haunting… I can’t with so much superior visions of a darkly beauty back then. So much dumbed down in this dark era of outlet-catalogue flat lighting...
(BTW, Steven Klein absolutely stole Luis and Sean Ellis’ style of photography. Even Mario Sorrenti produced this darkly seductive eeriness back in the late-90s before Klein. Of course Klein made it all his own, but no doubt Luis was the one that started it all.)
