the styling is really fantastic but the same pose where he would have been sitting and looking towards us would have much better than just seeing his face, legs and shoes from the side.

Carine Roitfeld stuck to using “real people” (as opposed to models) for her guest-edited issue of Vman, due out February 14. The exception: the bonus pinup girl calendar, shot by Willy Vandeperre, featuring “supermodels and Victoria’s Secret Angels, 12 of the planet’s most celebrated creatures.” Roitfeld dressed the girls, including Joan Smalls, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, and Karolina Kurkova, in an assortment of Victoria’s Secret lingerie and customized pink American Apparel jackets. Style.com has the exclusive first look at the full calendar. Here, a few of our favorite months.

KEEPING IT REAL: Despite her fondness for top models while at the helm of French Vogue, Carine Roitfeld put herself in the “real people” corner as guest editor of the spring fashion issue of VMan, due on newsstands Feb. 14. “Valentine’s Day,” Roitfeld purred over the line from her Paris apartment.

Indeed, she assembled the cast as if imagining a dinner at her place — a few celebs, chefs, mechanics, architects, a fireman — none of them hard to look at, or looking uncomfortable in their designer duds. “I like men trendy, but not fashion victims. It’s more effortless,” Roitfeld said. “When you work with real people, you can’t impose something.” Indeed, she’s convinced casting is crucial to depict male fashion as “it’s men who give personality to the clothes they wore.”

Roitfeld scored hot French actor Tahar Rahim for the cover, shot by British photographer Nick Knight, with whom Roitfeld collaborated for the first time, raving that the images are “very new for a men’s magazine.” Another buzzy credit line goes to Michael Avedon, grandson of the late Richard Avedon, who did portraits of up-and-coming artists using, like Bruce Weber, film instead of digital. Other snappers in the issue include Karl Lagerfeld and Jean-Baptiste Mondino, who shot young bullfighter José María Manzanares. Other soon-to-be-boldface names in the issue — part of a young Hollywood feature — include “The Hunger Games” star Alexander Ludwig and Chord Overstreet of “Glee.”

Roitfeld made an exception to her real-people rule for her bonus pinup calendar, featuring Victoria’s Secret babes and other supermodels, shot by Willy Vandeperre.

The cover price for the 168-page issue is $5.95, and it has a total circulation of 85,000. At press time, advertising pages were up 21 percent. Roitfeld characterized her dalliance as a men’s editor in chief as a “one shot,” but look out for her at a few shows during Men’s Fashion Week in Milan, where Giorgio Armani is set to host a cocktail gathering Monday at which Roitfeld is to sign copies of her book, “Irreverent.”

Nice cover, it's great to see Tahar! Moreover, I really like the styling. I just wish they didn't had that glowy effect.

I love that model in the Lindbergh story :brows: He reminds me of Bradley Cooper.

The cover is good but imo could have been better, loving Carines styling and the calender looks great.

I like the Lindbergh story and how its kinda the male version of Uma's Vogue Italia story.

OMG, I adore Tahar Rahim   amazing actor and fantastic cover, can't wait to see his ed

I'll pass. Looks like one of the Hollywood issues. Seeing Taylor Lautner's name does not excite me.

I'm so happy she chose to put Tahar Rahim on the cover instead of a more selling face like Taylor (I) Loathe-ner.
The cover is a bit meh, but I really like the previews so far.

I love it! This is very beautiful!

Taylor just had a cover.. let's free up some extra pages for someone else. lol

can't wait to see the rest of the Pin-up girls!

Louis Garrell is a dream. i've been in love with him since The Dreamers.

Candice's and Adriana's pic both say "Miss July"...

I want this calendar so badly :(. Chanel, Joan and Lily look bloody stunning. Guess it's off to e-Bay for me.

Adriana is May. And I like them all except for Ale's and Ana BB's. The face stocking and then the poses just look really unflattering.
