Vogue Arabia May 2017 : Pooja Mor by Ben Hassett

Lackluster, uninspiring, too bad because it's Pooja, and that's one of the best choice

Can't wait to see what's inside !

I'm glad Vogue Arabia has been consistently pro-diversity in these 3 first issues.

Vogue India should take note and perhaps celebrate their own beauty in their anniversary editions...

^if there´s one Vogue that celebrates their own identity is Vogue India!
and nobody on this forum for example seems to like it... perhaps this latest issue is an effort to appeal to us westerners ;)

According to their website, the editorials in this issue are:
- Reprint of Imaan by Z. Ghertner in US Vogue
- Reprint of Julia Hafstrom by Ben Hassett in Vogue Paris
- Cover story with Pooja

No words on the rest of the content. I just hate when newly launched magazines just do reprints... what's the point?!

Only Ajak looks good in that shot, the other two look like drag queens (in a bad way)

Ben Hassett certainly gave them more than enough cover tries for Pooja. I'd have gone with the 2nd shot instead. Thanks for posting, Kate!! :)

Reprints?????

3 issues in, and they seemed to already given up on creating a distinct identity other than the covers. Certainly can't be because of a lack of budget. Lack of interest?

(That editor's page of the shot of the moodboard from the 1st issue held so much potential. :sigh: ...)

I would've proposed the fourth shot from Pooja's editorial as the cover shot! Maybe with the added hint of a smile and it would've been ultra-perfect, IMO.

Saying that, I don't exactly loathe the shot Vogue Arabia chose themselves! I'm just not too keen on the space between the masthead and Pooja's eyebrows (if I'm being seriously picky).

Love "Who Are You Wearing?" ed, great job. Wanna buy this issue just see how it looks on the paper.

Woah, 'Who are you wearing' is what will happen when US Harper's tacky storylines get some true A-list treatment. For what it is, and who it's aimed at, this came together rather nicely. All the elements work - Bianca basically acting like herself, the perfect 'award season' styling, and a pap setting which can give Testino a run for his money. Love the composition, one can tell why Alexei was once regarded as Testino's protege.

It's quite nice to see such a flashy, big production story in a see of studio and poser photography (are all these people extras or was it taken at an awards ceremony????). This, for me, is more cohesive than Meisel's last 'busy street' campaign where the extras took centre stage. My eye stays on Bianca in each shot, and that was quite an accomplishment for Alexei.
