Vogue Arabia May 2025 : Amelia Gray by Zoey Grossmann

It’s good, the photos are good and Amelia is doing a great job modeling but something is missing. I don’t know if it’s the layout or the colors but it looks boring. Maybe it’s the lighting…

''Yeah, I have parents that are actors… and? No matter what I do, I can never please everyone. All that matters is that I please myself, and lead with my heart.” Gray, who is passionate about acting, adds, “I want to be in films. I want to find passion in new things, and constantly evolve.”

Lol their delusion will never make me fail laughing, you wouldn't be in this industry without your family, you aren't some poor girl who has suffered throughout her life. You can't please everyone because you bought your way into becoming famous! Of course people are going to comment on inequality. And why do all of them want to act...lol. It actually takes talent.

^Unnatural? How so?

I love Amelia but these covers aren't that much exciting. I guess the super flat hair doesn't help. The makeup is very bland too.

This edition used to have such a strong identity. Now it just looks like Vogue Mexico and LatAm. This is just sad.
What was their identity other than tackiness to high heaven?

I guess it is too bad that they're going to feature people like Amelia Gray over celebrities who seem relevant to the region, which is a shame.

Oh have you not seen what her face used to look like before the surgeries? Don’t get me wrong I think they were done well, but the look she has now doesn’t suit what they needed for this story.

She is modeling. In all fairness, she could just do her job, good or bad and it wouldn’t be a question. The thing is her lineage seems to be an obsession for people who feels like modeling should be a social reward that should exclude people who were born with privilege (as if beauty privilege for the less wealthy isn’t a privilege too).

She is right though. She can’t help who her parents are. She shouldn’t refuse to take the opportunities that brought to her life. But at the same time, every nepo anything gets asks the same stupid questions and people would be totally offended if they really express what they should express. The fake humility comes with the package.

All of them want to act because they comes from that environment. She was born in Hollywood. Parents are actors and probably all her life she grew up with people from the Arts. So we can’t expect them to want to work at an Insurance company lol.

I don’t mind nepotism babies as long as they’re good at their job. Hell, Ines de la Fressange, Iman, Stella Tennant, Margaux Hemingway all came from very wealthy and prominent families but they had what it took to become a model.
I can’t simply accept (and not only me) when you remodel your whole face to be part of a standard you don’t even fit. Imagine having countless of opportunities, countless of universities to study in, and you choose a life which you’ll get scrutinised and you steal opportunities of deserving models.
She gets criticised because she sticks out like a sore thumb in every shoot she does. And please…what kind of actress was Lisa Rinna? Real housewives of Beverly Hills? Acting requires talent, most of these nepo babies don’t have it. Simple as that.

But maybe the problem is that you have biais from the start. Ines De La Fressange never had to justify herself for what she did.

Is she stealing opportunities to people who probably never got them in the first place?

Her paradigm is different. Insta girls from back in the days are exactly the same as today. Stella Tennant became the face of Chanel thanks to her statuts. That’s what set her apart from all the girls. Being a model is already an unfair advantage.

I think people are unreasonably unfair to the nepo boys/girls and are projecting maybe a discomfort they have about their own aspirations.

I hate when people who benefited from nepotism doesn’t do anything with that (hello Julia Roitfeld).

Amelia is building her career now. Maybe the outcome will be different in 20 years. Marisa Berenson wasn’t more beautiful than anybody of her time. But she was the granddaughter of who she was. That opened doors in fashion, she was around circles that allowed her to move to acting and years later she became an icon. There were probably more beautiful models in the 70’s. There were probably a tores who worked with her that had to work from jobs to jobs to make a living. For her it was just a passion in some ways…

People don’t like her because being Nepo and mediocre as a model like Amelia means she gets all the lucrative jobs very easily while others have to actually work their as* off to get it.

I understand that but for me, modeling is an unfair job in the first place. And as I said, all the nepo models before her never had to work hard to get what they had.
The word deserve for me is maybe for a legendary model who never got a Vogue cover.
I hate the deserve thing in modeling. That’s all.

And the funny thing is that people forget that the fashion industry is very classist and that Lisa Rinna moves nothing in the industry. The same way that Hadid moved nothing. Without Carine Roitfeld, they would have never had a career.

Totally agree with you Lola

Its a very complex industry as we know and while Lisa Rinna moves nothing in the industry the most important thing is that she has a name and she still creates PR for xyz.

i strongly feel about the fact that everyone in fashion must have equal opportunities particularly in modeling. i fully disagree with the nepo concept. ive seen in corporate and its embarasing.

Poor Harry Hamlin, people forgetting that Amelia has two actors for parents who’ve always been consistently working and therefore have connections. No one’s hiring this girl because her mother was ever a good actress lol, unless they were a fan of soaps.
