The styling is horrendous!

I just can’t even bother to comment further! My God! They get paid to do that…

^^^ …And horrendous photography, horrendous beauty, horrendous modelling, horrendous art direction— and on and on. Eh.

People like her will and have always existed in the industry— just like so many untalented people being installed at prominent roles simply because of privilege. It’s a reality. Lila’s just a plain Jane born into fashion royalty, but never has nor ever will possess the distinctive and instinctive charm and presence of her mum (who’s way pass her prime herself BTW). No one in fashion will ever talk of Lila again when she’s bored with modelling, and finds a new hobby to infest. She reminds me of Ivanka Trump's modelling stint back in the 90s.

When Kaia first hyped onto the industry, she was riding on the coattails of her mum as a Cindy's Mini Me. But that was a long time ago, and she really has far exceeded her mother as a model. She’s by no means the next Super saviour to the industry, because— even if she did possess superpowers, she’s just a model: Essentially a lottery winner of the gene pool. but to her credit, there hasn’t been a single shoot nor campaign Kaia's been in that isn't solid. Can’t say the same of Lila.

Kaia’s at her best when portraying an aura of blessed family wealth, youth and beauty— so quintessentially herself. She’s almost untouchable in that aspect. But more than that, she’s gifted with this ironically Stepford Wives coldness, steeliness, even eeriness in beauty— and makes it all work wonderfully in her favour. For her all bored rich gorgeous girl traits, she comes alive with such a presence when anyone else would have failed and fell flat on their face with such cold traits— like Lila; who’s reliably consistent with that plain Jane who’s playing dressup in her rich mum’s fab wardrobe and taking snapshots to post on social. Etsy sellers have superior production than this.

What a horrible cover. It doesn't help to any people involved. Lila is the last person to blame her. Photographer, stylist and the HOC made of this the perfect storm.

About the nepo discuss, I remember the days when people was so hursh to Cara Delevingne or Eddie Campbell, and I'm seeing great pics from both in those fashion archive accounts from Instagram. From the actual ones I think Bella and Kaia are the best skilled, they can pull a real fashion model. Gigi is better in video, I liked her in the Miu Miu backstage videos, this girl knows how to move. But in print she's in the middle. Worst are Kendall and Hailey. Even they can take sometimes good pictures, most of the times fail as models. They look more like influencers that fashion models. Lila, I don't know what to say about her. I can't drag her as Kendall or Hailey, because I like her personality, and seems a very sweet girl. I hope she does better, still so young. I really like her persona, and makes me sad when the print work is so flat.

There have always been nepo models. Candice Bergen, Marissa Berenson, Angelica Huston, even Suzy Parker got their starts in modeling b/c they were related to someone famous. But each of them had a look that distinguished them from just any girl you'd see on the street, even if they weren't conventionally beautiful. Lila is cute but really there's nothing about her that says model. She's super short, gives nothing in pictures or the runway, isn't aspirational in any way. I don't know what part of the consumer market she caters to, except the modest looking girl who fancies herself something else. She may be a very sweet person but that doesn't qualify anyone for being a model.

Yes! Totally agree. My point for my personal experience is more easy to call the others for making a poor work most of the time. Kendall and Hailey sometimes look or act arrogant, and they don't even care to be better the next time, when seems they still "modeling" because this job (if you came from a famous family) brings lots of lucrative benefits to them. They still are because the money, they gain more because the name and the number of followers they have, and that is not bad, good for them, but at the same time the normal models lost possible jobs that they can do much better than the nepo ones. I should say the same about Lila, but she gave me another perception about her place, and yes, should't be that way. At the same time my instagram feed pops with pictures from the early 2010s, and compared to this group of girls, Cara and Edie are beyond better fashion models. Sometimes I read vintage threads from that era and I'm surprise how unfair we were with some names, and we were closer in time when the worst girls (by far) in the same position came to this industry. As you remark, some of the best models came from famous families, like Isabella Rossellini, Margaux Hemingway and Stella Tennant. Nepo should't be that bad if you make something with your name and your beauty.

First time I do actually like her on a cover or in a cover-story. It actually captures her "vibe" (and possibly her lack of interest for modeling) the right way. And the result, even if it's very far from what I'm used to love, is interesting. Everything is in tune here and I don't need Raquel's chameleon skills on every page, I don't need fierceness or glamour on every cover, I don't need some models jumping like a Trentini who had too much energy drink in every bloody editorial. This might be mediocre on many fronts, it actually works well for me, and most mags are beyond mediocre anyways.

That said, I like Phoebe's cover better. Nothing original or breathtaking (at all) but it also works, somehow. I guess there is some editorial that goes with it, right?

We are the only ones rooting for Lila, hahaha. But yes, it's something over the top but in a wrong way. Hahaha. Personality again. I can't with people like Lila, sweet girls are my silly jam. Hard to make a harsh and honest critique.
