Vogue India August 2021 : Salma Hayek by Jackie Nickerson

I thought the ones outraged would pick an issue with Vogue India styling (or retouching!) Salma to look like an Indian woman down to the eyes, lol.

It's such a painfully generic cover, belongs on a global issue of Harper's Bazaar.... one of those obscure countries that nobody cares to visit. Salma must be so desperate to appear on a Vogue cover to agree to this.
I smell Jackie's desperation too. This image is a massive downgrade for her, but I suspect she sacrificed her creativity to appear in Vogue some time ago already.

Salma's not shaped like a traditional model, so there's no point shooting her in a pose that best suits someone with straighter, longer lines. She might be short, but play to her strengths - there's no need to make her look stocky.

It's generic and far from best, but it's Salma so I'll take it! She looks gorgeous.

I think one of the factors on why they are featuring celebrities
instead of models is to boost their sales. They need them
for their survival.

With right design, that cover could have been better.
Vogue India and Hong Kong covers feel empty and soulless
at most times.

Salma looks amazing. Finally a MUA who did her beautiful face justice. I also love the hairstyle choice. Definitely one of their better covers.

Her HANDS gosh, she does not know what to do with them, her proportions on the photos are so OFF omg, how could they photograph her this way? Although I think she's not photogenic tbt. She's lovely but visually speaking this is a big fail.

I wish they had cropped it closer because she does look stunning in the face. The dress doesn't flatter her bust though.

It looks like a Madame Tussaud's version of Salma.

Also, I'll never understand the point of Vogue India, China, Japan, Arabia, etc
going out of there way to put models/celebrities on their covers, that don't represent the racial/ethnic populations of their countries.
Everyone is always screaming about "diversity" in fashion, but then they all rush to put a white woman, or some western celeb on their covers.
The Asian Vogues are particularly pathetic.

Idk, Why Asian Vogue love to put Western Model or Celebrity for cover??
But, It soo hard to see Western Vogue put Any Asian Model or Celebrity for Vogue cover :(
