Vogue Italia February 2011 : Candice Swanepoel by Steven Meisel

Is it even possible for Arizona to do a bad editorial? I'm loving the second shot the most with that gorgeous white dress.

Yes, but the prize included 2 editorials in VI. One in May (Beauty In) and one else. It was never specified when the other would come out.
Hope it's this one! If she was photographed by Meisel I think I'll die .

Fingers crossed for her then! :woot:

I hope the other ed is this month, but i was just under the impression it was all coming out in one whack for them to get it out of the way.

Like many other people I was looking forward to Ann's ed but this is starting to get weird. The previews for the May beauty ed have been around for weeks, does it even make sense to publish an ed after so many months when everyone has already seen it? And add to that that it looks super-amateurish and so not VI at all :(

Back to this issue. I absolutely adore Candice's main ed  She looks stunning and I love the 90's feel of it (90's style seems to be what everyone's aiming for at the moment and as a kid of the 90's I can't complain, I loved everything about that era). Arizona's ed look really great, too. And the preview for Melissa's ed look fabulous as well. And if Alejandra Alonso's Suggestions cover is also in this issue then I'm completely in love. Perfect issue.

This issue looks really solid. I loved the last issue purely because of the main editorial.

This time there is some consistency though...the Meisel editorial is definitely simple and ungroundbreaking but Candice looks stellar; she moves with an incredible grace and sexuality that isn't vulgar; I love how Carlyne styled the red Calvin dress particularly!

Roversi, McDean (I don't like Arizona but she's proving to be an editorial "force" so to say) and Summerton look great; hope there's more to come from the latter.

Did I say Meisel? I ment Miles. Miles o___o.
And yes, the prize were 2 VI eds + IMG + CoverGirl. I even re-watched it to check, lol.

I don't understand the problem. It's a hot blonde in a hot jacket. It's extremely commercial and will sell extremely well. Yes it's not the most innovative cover, but artistic integrity doesn't exactly have the first say anymore these days.

The main editorial is absolutely dashing. Candice is absolutely mindblowingly sexy, she makes me drool like an idiot.
The back shot of her in the red button Versace dress is unbelievably sexy and charming. VERY VERY Avedon.

^No... Valerija is in that one. The only ed Ann can still be in is the one by Miles :flower:

I really like the main editorial but the reference is way too obvious, they could have done better. candice looks stunning, she's very very pretty. I think the orange swimsuit shot is gorgeous (even though her hips look out of place), it would make a good cover.

Ugh, this screams 'buy me asap!'. Valerija by Paolo (and Jacob, I assume) looks incredible, it's crazy how good that girl is in every single one of her stories, just like that other girl Yonkla, I know nothing about them but every time I see their stories here, I'm just floored by either how good they are or how lucky they are to work with some of the most creative teams in magazines.

Also loving the story with Ajak.. that's what finally convinced me to get this, the colors are beautiful.

Candice's story looks fun, I'm sure when my mother sees this she will feel a bit of pride and claim healthy fashion (that Cindy Crawford athletic thing/weird jewelry/80s thongs that reach your ribs ) is making a comeback. Ha.

Thanks guys for all the pictures/previews/reviews/etc.

I find it ironic how some think the main editorial isn't very noteworthy while I, on the other hand, see a few picture's in Candice's feature that could grow quite memorable given time...probably some of her best pictures in her career thus far that could solidify her name and face in the industry (also makes me wonder what the opposition to the popular opinion was really about...). I'm seeing a talent in the editorial that's undenaible and a special something that was certainly not present beforehand.

Without a doubt, I love Meisel photographing in this Avedon mode but I hope he puts it to rest for some time before we see it again.

Other than McDean's editorial (that totally blows me away :o ) nothing else in this issue really excites me. Don't like the direction Roversi's work is moving in... :(

I really hope Ann's in the Miles Aldridge editorial then... it would suck if it were some other month. :(

I like the cover. I don't love it, but I like it. It somehow feels fresh to me, and I think you can't really deny how gorgeous Candice is.

Her main editorial, on the other hand, I LOVE. Whoever said earlier that she looks like a "lost supermodel looking for the 90s" HAHAA. you totally hit the nail on the head. She just has so much *POW!* in those shots. The colours and the poses and her face and energy. Not to mention her completely ridiculous body. She really delivers! And it's refreshing to see her get to do something other than VS. I hope this signals a shift in this girl's career to get some more fashion work.

really looking forward to the "Head Shots" edit.

very similar to miranda's editorial. It's nice, not memorable though. Wonder if she will become a meisel favourite. I only have one question IS ANN WARD IN THIS ISSUE?!?

yep, and as I already disliked the cover I thought at the very least I'd be impressed by Candice's editorial... but nope! It's really really bad: it looks like a Guess campaign: one of the worst brands there is out there and the way she poses is kinda of alright since Meisel positions her but the styling is atrocious.

I had to do a double take with the cover but I think Candice did a great job interpreting what some people noted, '90s-esque Amber Valletta.

The styling of Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele makes it comedic to me because in the '90s, it would've been fun but now it's a little chaotic but that's what she does.
