^^^ It’s absolutely all about money.
The industry is more greedy than it’s ever been.
This whole “inclusivity and diversity” tagline is as shallow as Maria’s “We Should All Be Feminist” tee. Just another gimmick to sell to SM-culture. And all the while, some people are really believing that the industry is kinder, more compassionate and more inclusive. They’re just pandering and more careful so they don’t receive the wrath of SM-culture which could hurt their sales LOL
VI apologizing for the recent tanned Gigi when ignorant people accused them of Blackface is the reason this brand of creativity and artistry displayed here would never get the light of day in puritanical-PC 2018. Instead of apologizing for a tanned Palestinian woman (further digitally color-enahnced as a signature of a photographer), VI needed to have the balls to explain to the pitchfork crowd exactly that: Klein’s was a hyper stylized imagery of a tanned woman— the sort of fashionable aesthetic that is is seen in Northern European countries.
Ignorance is the result of the uneducated, and most people would rather be enlightened and learn from their misunderstandings than remain blissfully ignorant. God only knows how much I’ve learned from some of the members around here… VI apologizing only cements their accusers’ ignorance and arrogance: And from now on, everyone who is not Black, who is shown with a darker skintone, will be considered Blackface… :sigh: And that diminishes the historical significance of such a damning racist mockery more than people will ever know.
These fashion magazine archives are such a wealth of not only creativity and artistry (and inspiration), they’re a wealth of education, as far as I’m concerned. Thanks again, burbuja and everyone else, for the constant updates.
