Vogue Japan February 2020 : Irina Shayk by Giampaolo Sgura

I like it! Mad about headscarf styling in general, blame it on the 60s. Plus they'e not gone the usual bombshell route with Irina, and the backdrop looks stunning. But this is not really Vogue Japan. I'm sure if they shot this look against that eternal white backdrop the styling would have been more stronger. Still, a winner for me.

Loving the romantic lavender hues for Feb!

I support any none-white-background cover from VJ, no need to say one in such beautiful lavender natural surrounding, must look even more fabulous in real.

Love the coat and the background but the headscarf looks hideous and the layout looks messy, it does not look very Vogue Japan-esque to me either Benn98 .

Last month I complained about their January cover by Nick Knight because Vogue Japan makes every photograper's work look the same with their formula, so it's nice to see a change but at the same time it's just too much of a change, because at first glance this looks like Vogue Russia (sgura, Irina and flowers..). I must say it's a good cover though!

Not sure if it's just me, but in some photos, Irina looks gorgeous (her latest Russian Vogue cover being an example), while in others (like this one), it seems like her face is melting. Her skin looks like it's hanging.

I am very possessive with the plain white backdrop as that is the identity of Vogue Japan.

this is lovely, but I want my studio shoot

I really think that the headband ruins the mood because the background is just stunning. Such beautiful colours.

I adore headscarf styling in fashion so I was instantly sold on this. The whole cover is a win, it's truly beautiful. However, I have to complain about the text. I know it's VJ's classic amount of text but you can't even see it because it blends right into the background and then pops over her coat, it's giving me anxiety!

The field of flowers is a lovely backdrop. Is it lupine? Was this shot in Iceland? Gorgeous, whatever and wherever it is. I quite like the cold-weather styling. My only major issue is with her face. She's a stunning woman, but her expression, the photoshop, or a combination of the two has yielded unfortunate results.

So far the only good 2020 cover released. I might even go ahead and call it perfect.

It likely was shot in-studio. She looks superimposed onto the background— to give that Marie Claire realness. It’s what Giampaolo does quite a bit.

Agreed! I love me a good studio shot, but this is just beautiful!

Always nice to see Irina and glad for a background change for once, but I'm not feeling the shot overall.

I love Irina! Her print work is satisfying...
And she looks good even in BORING Chanel...
