Vogue Korea September 2023 : Mariacarla Boscono by Luigi & Iango

Thanks for creating this thread, Paul! :redheart:

It's fresh to see them doing minimalist covers. They remind me of their past covers
around 2019 to mid-2021. This is also Mariacarla's third Korean Vogue cover.

By the way, they also posted this teaser on their Twitter account two days ago, though I'm not sure if he's also getting a cover this month.

Ditch the Pavarottis and James Greens of the world and start hiring L&I for your covers, US &UK Vogues!!!

Let's hold onto Ethan! LOL.
Luigi and Iango live the phrase 'consistency wins'. I recall a time when they used to be mocked on here. Does it mean we'll reach a stage where we'll praise the Morelli Brothers?

This profile cover is probably their most Meisel-esque work yet. Not my favourite model nor Vogue edition, but I'm somewhat interested to see the rest.

Yeah, I was legitimately surprised to see so much praise for them after (lol) returning to TFS. I have a hard time taking them seriously, sorry!! :tearsofjoy:

Oh, I'd also like to add that their new layout is horrible. Their new fonts are illegible especially on their page footers.

Me too, I always found their work very "fake" or very surface level pretty but lacking any depth. I know you could give M&M the same critique, but I always felt that there was something distinctive about their images - they worked hard on their colours/depth of shade and lighting in their B&W work and their pictures always popped on the printed page.

So I'm still not really on board with them but I admit sometimes their work looks better than many of their contemporary peers; not that that's a difficult feat!

“Demna of Joan of Arc”
Cringe

LOL Not just cringe, but "Making clothes is my armour" is giving strong “Graphic design is my passion” vibes.

Something's very off about this covershoot, considering it's Korea... Looks suspiciously as if the Prada Corp is mandating the outlet-sensibility of this shoot. Mariacala looks exhausted and in need of a good hydrating lip-moisturizer. She looks defeated in such sad-looking clothes: Therefore very on-brand with the current Prada aesthetic.

the couture supplement is sublime, even though I saw #his..... anyways
and MCB!!!! she can do wrong in my eyes thats mother

The main covers are pretty portraits of MCB, classic L&I's photography. The supplement cover is gorgerous, it's a beautiful tribute to the Horst P. Horst's work.

I got excited when I read the title even though I think the portraits shots are not the most flattering of Mariacarla. These are quite nice covers all in all. But the first one looks like a perfume ad and the last one is a little lazy. I'd say I like the second cover the most, with the movement of the skirt. Also, I must say that I love the way the Vogue logo just blends in on the first cover.

The covers work because MC gives them some life. The second Lee Kang cover is interesting too.
