Vogue Philippines February 2024 : Forces for Change by Artu Nepomuceno

We all make choices, and that was certainly a choice.

Uhm, who are these women? I don't see any relevance. The images from that Liza shoot looked better. They should've just used those for the cover story.

This is my issue with our edition of Vogue; it's too bland and sometimes borders on amateur. It plays it too safe and lacks personality. Worst of all, it lacks a true sense of fashion. If Bea really wants to leave a mark as EIC, she should learn how to take risks. I can see they're trying too hard to "have purpose." At the end of the day, Vogue is a fashion magazine. They should prioritise that.

The main issue with Vogue Philippines is what others have stated: it's not really a fashion magazine, but a general interest one. You need to be MORE niche these days, you need to be MORE fashion-centered in order to survive. General interest is going to be the death of them. It's really too bad, because Bea and Pam Quinones (the fashion director) are incredibly chic and have amazing style. I wish they would incorporate their own taste into the magazine more.

I've worked with Pam before and I must say, while you can be chic and possess amazing style, it doesn't necessarily mean you have an editor's eye.

Vogue Philippines… too many agendas and none about fashion.

This edition of Vogue is making a name for itself not by trying to up its more established siblings (I mean, let's be honest, they haven't got a prayer) but by coming out with covers that get people talking. It's a strategy for sure, but I wonder if they're setting themselves to fail by doing this a little too often.

Admittedly, the issue I most remember this edition for is the Apo Whang-Od one. It didn't make waves for the fashion, but for how unusual the cover subject is.
