Vogue Philippines April 2024 : Shaira Ventura by Mark Nicdao

I literally checked their cover girl's Instagram profile to see if she's popular in the Mindanao region. Apparently she's a registered nurse who happens to win a pageant. who.jpeg

I'm not certain if they could pull off a Jinghan Fan in her, but who knows? Maybe they saw something in Shaira that they instantly booked her for a cover. I mean, Ailah's career didn't boost since her July 2023 cover was released. I already saw some photos from this month's main editorial and she's really photogenic. Maybe they'll do it right this time around.

I'm still unsure if I'm going to buy this issue; their cover story last month where they let their cover girl Nadine Lustre wore the same pair of shoes in EVERY photo offended me.

Is she the youngest cover girl so far? 💀

(I know this edition seems to be unpopular... but I kind of find it fascinating)

Well, does she look young to you? 💀

Their youngest cover girl was Alex Eala at 17.

Anyway, here are some photos from this month's main editorial:

The fourth photo would've make a great cover, too.

Volume 1/2 are we getting 2 issues this month?... confused

It's a two-part special that'll heavily feature people from the Mindanao region (Southern part of the Philippines).
One for April and one for May.

Shakira is photogenic but her instagram is a mess :dizziness: Homegirl needs a catharsis

The cover is rather dull and half-baked again. The editorial photos were okay. The only photo that struck a chord with me is the one featuring her in a floral look. And it still has a National Geographic vibe overall. I mean, I appreciate the nod to local dressing but they could've elevated it by glamming it up and injecting it with modern pieces. I also don't get why they opted for a studio setting when Mindanao has such beautiful landscapes. The natural beauty of that region could've added a more interesting dimension

Beautiful spread though the extra hair in the first shot of the editorial looks too obviously added on.
