What a lovely surprise to see Jacquetta, I did not see that coming. Having said that, the editorial in underwhelming. Maybe it would be better with another photographer or something.

Lovely to see Jacquetta and she looks really good.

Vogue Portugal is getting better and better. I like her ed and also the cover. The sixth shot would also make a beautiful cover for Vogue Portugal

Original content, I love it!! Yay Vogue Portugal!!

Totally agree!! Not only have they shot this themselves, but there's actually an interesting narrative to the editorial. Looks like they're alluding to female war photographers such as Dorothea Lange etc. I'd probably have included a bit more 'fashion' pieces because Jacquetta is blending in with the guys. Also, NO to the shoes on the cover.

Jacquetta looks so much like Keira Knightley here, as such this sort of reminds me of her US Vogue African story.

It makes me happy seeing this! Look how far they've come from their reprint covers with horrendous layouts! It's not a fantastic cover but it's definitely not a bad one. we've all seen worse.

As for the styling, the shoes ruined it for me. Who wears than on a safari trip?

I still won't buy it but it's refreshing to see they are moving away from the reprinted editorials/covers. Now they just have to loose all those horrendous articles about "how to cheat your husband" or similar nonsense. I dream of the day they will have 80% editorials and 20% relevant articles like Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia. Instead of an article like "what do feminists wear" why not an article about actual feminists and what they think?
Sometimes I stop to think how dumb the Portuguese women must be because every single fashion magazine has these stupid articles about sex and sexuality or how to dress like "her" and one or two relevant articles.

I wont call it like you did, because as a non-Portuguese, it'll sound offensive. Perhaps it's a matter of 'supply and demand'? I imagine they do this to court and sustain their readers, which, yes, doesn't reflect very good on the actual readers. It sounds very Marie Claire or Cosmo.
The last issue I bought was with the anniversary cover with Anna Moura, and the content seemed ok. Not bad, or very good, but just ok. So I wonder then, what title do Portuguese women turn to for fashion?

as much as you hate their taglines and articles about sex and ++, you have to realize that these stories attract the readers. Ever wondered why Cosmo is such a global hit?

Yes, it's distasteful for a Vogue franchise but you can't deny that it's a good strategy. They want the magazine to not only be a magazine for the fashionable ones but also to women who are concerned with their lifestyle. If I'm a Vogue reader and buy Cosmo for the sexual tips ++, why would I still buy cosmo (women's health ++) when the stuff that I need are also included in Vogue? And those who buy cosmo would be lured to buy Vogue because they don't only get their sex tips ++ but also get fashion ideas for the same price (or maybe a little more)>

I can agree with you to to some extent. The same discussion came up when the new Self was unveiled. As a health and beauty magazine, it now boast with a substantial fashion component. I think there were people who didn't welcome the 'fashionization' of that title. Now, it makes sense for a magazine to sort of serve as some 'all-in-one' inclusive lifestyle platform, especially nowadays when people are continually pressed for time. And especially for smaller countries, since they would most likely struggle with niche titles. So I get that part.
And yet on he other side I feel VPortugal needs to be a bit more discerning with the type of features they select for print. Sure fashion doesn't pair well with a lot of subjects (for instance feminism), but the examples EstefaniaAbaddon is giving doesn't belong there, does it? Leave that for Cosmo, or even People! For any Vogue title, it becomes a problem when the emphasis is more on features which doesn't even relate to fashion, and less about actual fashion. It's just proof that they're navigating away from the core of the title.

I think you got my point. I didn't care if it was Máxima (on of the yop selling magazines here that feature a lot of those "cheating husbands", horoscope, yada yada yada stories). I expect Máxima and some other magazines to feature these stories. It's just that Portugal doesn't have plenty of fashion magazines like France, the UK or the US. I can only recall one magazine along with Vogue. That one is pretty much 95% fashion. Vogue has a past. It's a franchise and I don't mind if they have interviews with actors and such but some of the articles are pretty... un-classy? And even dumb. I would buy these magazine if they had 4 or 5 editorials plus good reading articles like interviews with relevant art people or even a story about feminism! I don't know, I just wish the content was modern, classy and made for independent and "aware" women. More like Vogue Paris.

But it's a HUGE step-up to see them doing their own editorials.
