I would agree with you, because they were certainly trailblazers, but I learned to adapt to this new fashion climate and let down my boomeresque closed approach to fashion.
Actually, we are still used to different tailoring and more literal exploration of techniques, but outside of the photography and marketing, fashion is arguably at its highest now visually. We did have Prada and McQueen, Givenchy and YSL, Gucci and Chanel, and they surely were huge, but today the options are so many more, we’ve never had so much fashion.

Not even mentioning the brands above again, we have some old houses rising again. I mean, we have Balenciaga, Gucci, Loewe and LV, and all four are so different in their aesthetic that it has never been in fashion in such obvious way. And the endless new designers and brands we are getting too.

Also, on another hand, I am also from Russia and we still have people with salaries high enough to care about high fashion? I mean, I don’t have to dig far in Moscow and Saint Petersburg to find lots of Hermes, Raf Simons and Bottega. As for smaller cities - it is the same as everywhere. I doubt people in Albuquerque or Lyon are looking for high fashion same as Khabarovsk or wherever else.

Love both the first and second cover but the editorial is definitely one of the most enthralling I’ve seen this year. Probably one of the very few issues I’d pick up.
