Vogue Russia November 2007 : Cindy Crawford

Megan and Siri's editorials are not bad, not bad at all. :flower: And Cindy looks great on the cover. ::blush:

This is the first cover of Vogue Russia that I've liked in a long time; the style of VR's covers usually doesn't appeal to my personal tastes. But even if I don't like their style, I'm glad that they don't resemble other Vogues - and that they create unique covers rather than recycle shots from elsewhere. This is another great example of that.

Thinking about it, this is a cover shot without any eye contact that still manages to exert a strong effect. I suppose what's conveyed, eyes closed, is the full-body feeling of emotional abandon, deep inside the fur. Most covers need - and rely upon - direct eye contact from the subject to grab the audience, but this one doesn't need that.

I REALLY LIKE IT. Cindy still got it going on.

I also like that Russia Vogues unlike others (say Nippon or US or UK) don't seem to be re-using the same people all the time.

on the cover at the bottom left corner (translation) :

Fox Coats
Sable Muffs
Wild Cat Hats
Leopard Purses
KEEP WARM

Did you know that there are about 750,000 fur coats sold annually in Russia?? PETA's going insane about the fur trade there. except Russian could care less

thanks for the infos... i didn't know...
but i think it's pretty normal...
but i never thought PETA was overthere, too... I mean it's Russia... will PETA go in Groeland and say people you cannot wear fur anymore?

i just love what's happening with vogue russia. who would've known it's going to feature such an emerging faces few years ago? look - there's siri and meghan (so much talked about, it's going to be INSANE), the styling is getting some signature. now you can feel the russian Vogue aesthetics. and from what i see this aesthetics defenetely stands out.
doletskaya, you go girl!

lol really fur has always been in Russia and always will be. and sorry I didn't read the article too closely and actually Vita is a Russian animal rights group but it models itself on People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA. I just saw PETA and thought PETA was actually involved sorry about that.

It says there also that Russians spend about 2.5 billion a year on fur and sales hav only soared in the recent years as Russia's economic boom has driven demand for luxury goods. So Vita has largely failed.
