Vogue Taiwan August 2010 : Yang Ying by Jason Wu

soo wait Jason Wu(the designer) shot this?
it would be a nice cover if the model had a better face

no, that's a photographer in Vogue Taiwan team.
you know, Jason is such a popular name like Eric, Amanda etc, and Wu is also a huge last name.
i guess in Taiwan there are more than 500,000 people called Jason Wu.

and for me this cover is just dead like always, they never progress a bit.
the eyes, the pose, the collobration, the typing..... it's just dead.

but i wanna defend for Ying, because she has such an adorable face in Asian's eyes.
(she's very popular in CHinese roots, Japan, and south asia)

Vogue Taiwan should shut down and Jason Wu should back to school.

now who said she was styled by Melanie :D

i don't even know what's the point to post the editorial, it's simply brainless.

FINALLY !!! Something decent this time ! I like the face of this girl however the pose is too common and the background is too strong with that blue paint; as always they used that horrible f* font for the coverlines but it's a little progress that we have to notice, that's true but I wouldn't AT ALL call this cover "fabulous" or "cool" in comparison to the other Vogue editions worlwide! But I have to say, even though I'm not a huge fan of the simple lighthing usually, this time I find it suitable to this cover.

What I'd like Vogue Taiwan to do though, is for them to find their own style, like I believe they think they have (and they do lol it's just not HIGH FASHION or COOL enough), but like Vogue Australia or Vogue China or even Italian Vogue or British Vogue they all have a specific style and you can immediately spot on from which country comes an issue because they have a signature style: font, model, poses etc. They have, as I previously said in another post concerning a cover they've made, the potential to be as strong as any other Vogue edition, they just need a makeover or a new style direction (which means maybe fresh blood at their offices).

thanks tentalicious for the main editorial and the bigger cover, unlike some people I don't think we should throw at the garbage Vogue Taiwan, it's not useless to try to see how to make it better or to post those posts concerning their work.

Now, when you look at those pictures, there's something immediately that jumps at ya: this is NOT Vogue material. Those pictures, the layout, the texts, everything looks like it could be from Seventeen or Glamour magazine but not Vogue c'mon. I think none of those pictures are good enough for a Vogue cover but if we have to replace that one, I would have taken the 3 pic with a different face expression, lighthing and pose loool. The 2cd one would have worked with another face expression, it reminded a tiny bit (a tiny bit I said don't yell at me loool) of Coco Rocha's picture for her Vogue Korea cover with the false bird, remember? I don't know there's something about the background that made me think of this cover when I opened this link to this image.
