What collection am I buying?

I'm new here at the Fashion Spot so a big "Nice to meet you" to everyone!

I'm relatively new to the designerwear scene and even newer when it comes to buying it. I'm always confused about what collection I'm seeing in stores. For example, if I were in a flagship store e.g. Dolce & Gabbana in Milan, right now (end of June), what collection would I be seeing on the shelves? I've read somewhere that the fall/winter collection would already be in. If so, how come the designer's website has the s/s collection as the main feature throughout summer? I'm so confused! Basically what I'm asking is, when do s/s collections hit the shelves and when do f/w collections come in?

s/s collection usually hits the shelves around january, f/w around end of june/beginning of july.

thanks! that really helps...quite releaved actually because i'm planning a trip to milan, paris and london next june (06) and am looking to do some shopping but i'm finding all the s/s 06 stuff spewing out of milan over the last couple of days a bit naf. must wait for the f/w shows...maybe they'll bring a little peace of mind.
