Are they really as comfortable as they are cracked up to be? How are they for durability and wear?

I really need to get a proper pair of girly shoes, and I saw two different pair on Easy Spirit's website that I like the looks of. They seem practical and stylish, and while $90 is not cheap to me, I know it is a fair price for a pair of shoes. Both my lumberjack boots and my Docs cost around that originally, and if I can get a few good years of wear out of them with a little care, I would be satisfied.

Anyway, here are the two different styles I am considering. Any advice or opinions?

This is my first choice. Most of the stuff I want to wear them with is fairly summery, so the openness of the style would be appropriate, but my hideous ape toes would be well concealed, which is always a big consideration! I think the ankle strap would be nice, too so that it doesn't slip when I am walking around.

This is the other one I like, in black. I'm just ambivalent about a slip-on style. They never feel secure to me... Has anyone here ever tried this shoe and could tell me if it felt like it would stay on well when they walked?

I kind of liked these, too, in black.

As you can see, I am kind of leaning toward a 1940s look and feel with the shoes, which fits well with the dresses I like to wear. I'm also needing them for to wear with my new suit, which is going to have a kind of girlified 1930s look to it.

AYLI,

I used to have these easy spirit ballet shoes, and I wore them out! they are soo comfy. I usually do'nt wear the brand becuase the style is not usually something I agree with, but if you're looking for comfortable, I'd go with them or Aerosoles.

THe ones you picked out are cute. esp. the first set.

They're comfy.... My mom says they're the only shoes she can wear.

they are comfortable and well made...
i like your choices...the 2nd are my faves...

i would also recommend aerosoles...padded inside...very comfy...a bit more sylish and feminine than easy spirit..maybe a bit younger...

^ I agree, I think aerosoles are a good choice.

Easy Spirits are really comfy. My grandma swears by them.. But yeah, she wears the old lady walking shoe  not even close to those above.

The Aerosoles are cute, but I don't think they look practical for what I need. I don't buy many shoes, so the ones I do buy have to go with a LOT of different outfits. I also prefer to buy either brown or black shoes, so that I can touch them up with shoe-polish when they start getting shabby. The other concern is that I prefer to have something with either an ankle strap or a strap across the instep, Mary-Jane style, because I walk fast with big steps, and I always feel like I will lose a shoe in slip-on styles.

If I was better at the whole girly-girl thing, and had the budget and storage space for more than four pair of shoes at a time, I might look into something funkier, but I know deep down that I just don't have the space, cash, or inclination to maintain an extensive and funky shoe wardrobe.
