I think that it is so cool that some designers, (and I stress some), do a good job of keeping up good, up to date websites. Examples of these would be: Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Dior. There videos are up to date; you can practically see the Jacobs, and Vuitton collections right after they happen.

Other designers though fail horribly. John Galliano hasent updated his site in centuries. Donna Karans isnt that great either. Versace hasent changed anything for forever, and dont get me started on Prada, and that annoying site!

What I have to ask is what is up with these designers? They claim to be so much on the cuttign edge, and then they dont even keep up thier sites! Resources that people who cant go to the shows. rely on to see what is good in fashion, or to see the latest from that particular designer.

In an ever growing technologically bound world, its time for these designers to get it together!

I know, I would love a fashion website thats updated...but usually there not :(

^i wish he does..XD
want to know what's up with that guy...that's why i have to buy the new vanity fair magazine

but yea..some designer sites need a better web designer too..=T..some looks kinda crappy..

its ridiculous , how often ppl in the industry dont realize how important the inet is, and among all its the cheapest way to promote...

Fast loading, current images on designer sites are so very, very important. I wish more designers had images that can be zoomed in on so we could easily see the details. Professional video is relatively inexpensive now - more video footage so we could see the movement of the designs would be a welcome addition.

If wishes were fishes... :innocent

I know it's an old question in this thread, but Tom Ford does have his own site: http://tomford.com!

I understand why some designers don't want to have anything beyond a cute little picture on a website. The internet is accessible on a mass-scale, and I'm not entirely sure, I haven't spent too much time thinking about this, but-- it might dishevel a particular designer's level of exclusivity, etc, if they push the internet too much. But then you have Hermes, and the such, so it's hard to pin point.

Maybe they're all just computer *******?

Y'know, fashion and geeks just don't mix.

Bill Gates in Dior Homme, anyone?

The Tom Ford website looks absolutely amazing. It's one of the best designer websites. Dolce & Gabbana is probably the worst that I can think of. (Ruling out Prada, natch.)

Prada's website actually improved last month. They added the Fall-Winter 2007/8 collection, which was great! I was actually surprised when I went there last month because FINALLY they added real content!

Fendi.com, however :innocent:

I wish more designers would put their advertising campaigns on their websites. Pictures from campaigns are usually good to make banners with because many of the shots are horizontal, but I have a hard time finding them in a version without missing pixels in the middle.

What really annoys me though is the crappy layouts. Not only do they love flash, they have to add 73289034 effects to it. The sites are sluggish because you have to wait for the flowers to fall or the text to slowly appear on the screen or the dots to stop swirling around, etc etc. I love the well-organized, quickly-loading sites. I actually think the Gucci website is my favorite

prada has got a nice one but i would say prada parfum beat anyone. http://www.pradaparfums.com
rick owens http://www.owenscorp.com has got a good subtle one, so are http://www.giulianofujiwara.com and http://www.viridi-anne.com

so in terms of ranking imo,
1. Prada Parfum http://www.pradaparfums.com
2. Y3, http://www.adidas.com/y-3/fw07/index.html
3. Issey Miyake, http://www.isseymiyake.com
4. MCQ, http://www.mcq-alexandermcqueen.com
5. Uniqlo, http://www.uniqlo.co.jp
6. BaseStation, http://www.basestation.jp
7. Dior Homme, http://www.diorhomme.com
8. Raf Simons, http://www.rafsimons.com

I believe fashion labels should put more attention in their design in websites too. marketing and image covers everything from shop windows, shops, ad campaign to websites.

aesthetic and regular updates that's all we are asking for.

i agree! i love the dior homme website. marc jacobs is really easy to navigate through.
