i also really wanted to see interpol and bloc party at a music festival back in 2004 but my mother wouldn't let me go :(
 
The Smashing Pumpkins last ever show at the Chicago Metro.

We've been promised a dvd of the event for years but it hasn't happened, and I guess its not even that big a deal anymore since their (partly) getting back together :rolleyes:
 
Unlike Tangerine, I wouldn't go for the 66 Judas gig, but I would go for Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue. in 1975 Easy. If this doesn't electify you, nothing will. (This is actually from Renaldo and Clara but it gets the point across)


But above that by a million gazillion miles, the legendary Springsteen gig at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in 75. It is like friggen opera. Albeit testosterone charged opera. Plus the way he plays with his hat kills me! "There is an opera out on the turnpike, and there is a ballet being fought in the alley"


Or Bruce at the Roxy in 78. Look at the girls rushing the stage


Oh and Bruce in 2006 on the Seegar Sessions tour... but wait I was there! :p. Bruce shows Bob how to get better with age. Plus he was always more innovative. Try playing anything from any of his earlier albums and your fingers will fall off. Bob's beauty is simplicity but he was always too derivative Guthrie for me.

And Patti Smith closing out CBGB. Wish I had been in NY in October this year.

I have 70s addiction issues. And none of these people (Dylan aside) were into crack or nonsense or immaturity. It really shows.
 
I LOVE that Hendrix clip Tangerine. I dont think it is the same listening to a Hendrix record as seeing a vid. He is like Springsteen in the sense that they only reach their dizzy heights on a live stage

And Bob was suppose to play there Sienna, but he couldnt do it because his son was taken ill. According to wikipedia 'he also was unhappy about the number of the hippies piling up outside his house near the originally planned site'. He is not a very fun guy is he.. Well thats why we have Pete Doherty. :p
 
I was waiting for that Hilde! Actually he is a real misery guts. I heard an interview where he said he didn't want to play cos he didn't like the idea of people on shrooms in silly clothes or something. Geesh, lighten up.

Yeah Raoul. Real barrel of laughs that one. Between the general and the crack.

^ Sienna, I'm terribly biased. I've been a U2 fan since I was a kid.

BUT... I can say that they play a good deal of older tunes at their concerts. And you can tell that many people at their concerts are fans of their older music. Tto me the energy is amazing at their shows... and it's quite interesting to watch the Edge play - and quite frankly, it's great to hear a bunch of tunes that don't have to do exclusively with love... like, lovey-dovey love. Ya know? I get tired of that type of sappy music.
 
OK, I might see them next time they are in London then. The reason I wondered is because I was watching the hundred greatest gigs or something and they were in the top 10 with the gig they played in the Colorado mountains... red something. I don't remember but the rocks were red and the rain had just cleared and it looked pretty cool. I know what you mean about sappy music. It seems like every second kid decides that if he does crack and sings heart-wrenching songs, he will make the big time. A little humour never went astray!

The Drowners (their first TV performance) - the lyrics and the performance are a funny match - Brett says "slow down", but it's hard to imagine this any slower - if he was any slower he'd be asleep anyway, that's for sure :lol: Still, it's curiously good.

I'd give something pretty important to have been at Isle of Wight '70 instead of my parents (who slept through Dylan!).
