Who'll be next for Chanel, Valentino & Armani?

^^ for chanel.... that you said OR hedi slimane (call it a childhood dream... ^_^)

for armani... someone unknown

alessandra deserves her own brand
what if third time isn't lucky? what if the kinda ruins it? her ruffled delicacy doenst go so much with the chanel-power-suit look, no?

i just can't see slimane's minimal vision reconciling itself with the flourish of the chanel experience! an interesting experiment for sure, but i can't see him dealing with the camelias, for example.

i agree that alesesandra needs her own brand...she could easily become another giambattista. however, i'm curious whether tom ford will snatch her back as his number two designer. one wonders if valentino tried to nab phoebe philo....

I don`t know anything but John Galliano must stay forever at Dior. : )))

something tells me his days are numbered. if they let him be himself, i'd agree with you, but they're smothering him to death. there exist so many marquee designers that could work MAGIC with the dior archives if that's what they're looking for. seriously, imagine what theyskens could do with that brand?

^Theyskens? I think he's too romantic for Dior. They need someone with a preoccupation with glamour and silhouette, maybe a Valli or someone similar. Galliano years ago truly was perfect for the brand...

^^Theyskens too romantic for Dior? I think of anyone working right now, Theyskens would be the best fit to replace John. Valli is so insipid and wannabe Couture, I don't think I could handle him actually working in Haute Couture, it would be too much.

I think Theyskens would be refreshing at Dior. I feel like the history of the house is very much about romance and femininity, which are some of the adjectives I associate with Olivier, and it would be interesting to see a more delicate and more youthful take on the archives than what we've been seeing from Galliano for the past several years.

I just really want to see Galliano leave Dior. He's ruining his breathtaking legacy season by season.

But honestly, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I just want Theyskens to settle down once and for all, and I just couldn't bear to see him house hopping even more in the future, so I would support the reinstating of his namesake label before I would support a new position of creative director and an established house.

Add me to the Slimane for Chanel supporters. I have no doubt that he'd reject the overtly frou-frou side and go back to some of the other things that Chanel pioneered. Feathers, ruffles and lace he may not do, but I could see Hedi working wonders with that tired old camellia and costume jewelry.

^^I agree. I love Karl's legacy for Chanel, but I honestly am getting so tired of his gimmicky and pile-it-all-on collections. I feel like the house need a serious cleansing and stripping away. Heidi could do wonders with the house - black and white, lanky, boyish silhouettes, No. 5, etc., all speak to Heidi's current aesthetic and I believe that the other symbols of the house that aren't inherently Slimane (lace, camellias, costume jewelry, etc.) could end up being gorgeous in the hands of Heidi. Karl treats everything so humorously and lightheartedly that it would be fascinating to see these icons of the house treated in a darker, more serious fashion.

I don't really see femininity or romance as the foundation to the house at all. I can see structure, elegance, luxury, or sensuality maybe, but Theysken's vision is completely different. His is soft, ethereal--things Dior's clothes wouldn't be called, at least from today's perspective. Theysken may have done some of his most beautiful work (his debut at Rochas) when he showed his interpretation of Parisian couture of Dior's era, but he was doing it from a lens (Roversi's, it looked like to me) that is incompatible with the Dior brand. Dior is brash, not just in Galliano's hands, but in its day, the New Look caused protests, even.

Don't get me wrong, I want Theyskens at the helm of a house pronto, but I don't think Dior is the house for him.

^I have too agree, I've never pictured Theyskens in Dior, in fact that one of the lasts brands I've could imagine him working, I could see Theyskens doing Givenchy for instance, following Tisci's work, I do like Theyskens a lot, I miss him at Nina Ricci but him for Dior is a no go for me. I just can imagine anyone replacing Galliano and when I think of it the only person that comes to my mind is Alexander McQueen.

I totally agree. While I definitely want to see Theyskens head a house, Dior is just not the right fit for him. Dior needs what someone mentioned Chanel needing, an unknown. The aesthetic and legacy of both Christian and John are strong enough that any current designer with an existing aesthetic would just clash with the brand instantly. A designer needs to get into the house that can reinterpret the brand, get to the crux of it, and completely rework it. I think that this can only be accomplished by someone who doesn't have a strong reputation of their own yet.

As for McQueen at Dior, as much as I love and respect Lee, that would never work. If John is currently being stifled and pushed to create less showy collections there is no way McQueen would stay there.

McQueen and Galliano = the time has passed for both of them. They had their limelight and many more after that, but it was the nineties. There is no need to transfer them to reviving some other big old houses. Let the young kids do that, just like Galliano and McQueen once did. Seriously, they are so rich and accomplished now that they don't have any real desire to design and revolutionaze anymore.

alber should stay at lanvin forever!

So agree. It's not only about the clothes, what I adore is the whole atmosphere he brings to this house, it shows in videos, soundtracks, campaigns, even boutiques. He made Lanvin magical.

I never pictured Hedi for Chanel, but I guess I wouldn't mind that much, especially I'm not crazy about Karl's projects these days.

The people at Dior must stop saying to Galliano what to do...Galliano knows it the best! He`s a GENIUS!!!I admire and love all of his work!!!The people at Dior(Maybe Mr.Toledano) should stop saying to Galliano how to do the things...They need to release him to be absolutely free and he to pour all his soul and creativity...into Dioor!!!I want the MAD years John Gallano for Dior back again!!!The Dior House must go crazy, mad and misunderstood again...I want the freaky Dior(in a really good way of course because i loove Dior)! And the House of Dior mustn`t be on a budget...John must have the freedom to create what he wants and the way only he wants to make it...Dior must mandatory go WILD again...to be so super sexy,wild,crazy,freaky,mad,untamed,screaming....Ohhh that wild Dior years and that whole era....This past wild decade...wow what an amazing memories i have...I want the Old Dior...
