I think the shoplifting thing really remains in everyone's mind because she hasn't really made a total comeback or given the public anything else to think about since it happened, y'know? If someone like Lindsay Lohan had done the shoplifting, a few months later it would've been forgotten (though probably in part because she would've created a new scandal by that time, lol).
