Wintour, Sozzani Fund-Raiser To Benefit Emerging Designers
By Marc Karimzadeh

NEW YORK — Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue, is teaming up with her Italian counterpart, Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of Italian Vogue, in support of Italy's emerging fashion talent.
At the close of the Italian shows on Sept. 30, Wintour and Sozzani will cohost a fund-raising dinner, which will be held at Milan's Rotonda della Besana and is expected to attract 250 fashion leaders. That night, the winner of the first "Who is on Next" award, which was spearheaded by Sozzani and inspired by the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, will be announced. The initiative has been designed to help emerging Italian designers. Like their American counterparts, they face growing pains, from funding the production of a sample collection to staging a runway presentation.
The three finalists are Albino D'Amato, Carlo Alberto Pregnolato and the fashion label 6267, which is designed by Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Raimondi. They will present their collections at a special fashion show on Sept. 28, at the Fiera de Milano. In total, 150,000 euros, or $183,218 at current exchange, will be awarded to the finalists, with the winner taking home the lion's share. Sponsors for the initiative include Italian Vogue, Alta Roma, Banca Intesa, M1 and Wind.
