My bf may move to NY next year for his studies (Sloane-Kettering center NY) and so I'm thinking about leaving with him overthere....
Unfortunately, I won't purchase my study overthere but I think it would be better for me working (or interning....).
In France, it's pretty hard and difficult to get responsabilities when you're still a student or just getting out of University...
and imo, NYC (and USA in general) is better with job opportunities and responsabilities given to young people... and i'll come back to France it would be easier for me to get jobs, as i would have some experiences in one of the biggest Art City = NY...
Oh... by the way, I'm an Art History student and would like to work/intern in a gallery or institution (like PS1, moMa etc.)
I'm already writing to gallery and institutions to know if they may employ a french student...
I don't know if this subject is ok on tfs... but I thought some people in NY, in touch with the art "world" could help... or even working / interning in art gallery / institutions etc.
I'm more interested into curating than art commerce... but you know... experiences in NY is big experience... for frenchies...
I read an itw of Charlotte Laubard (last-year-nominated-new-director of Capc in Bordeaux...) she went to NY because France was slooowww and and worked at PS1.... She's now director of a french (big... eventhoug the $$$ is not coming...) insitution and she is only 32yrs old!!!!!
Is it hard to work in NY Art World with not so many experiences (I only did an internship in an art gallery... I 'll do another one this year...)???
What's the level of education required??? I don't know that much about the US education system... but I think I'm graduated...
I'm def. not 100% sure of leaving France (as I'm still thinking if it's good idea or not to stop my studies...) for NY Art Wolrd... and it's not easy to leave France for USA....
