Indeed. I don't see a one-off sense in her work at all to be honest. Actually,the cutting looks quite precise and the way she sculpts the body with the volumes...I'd seriously have a difficult time finding an amateur who are capable of such skills.

Droogist,funny you mention V&R because it's precisely the same way they sort of evolved when they began doing p-a-p. Their work became a tad kitschier and more playful.

Her pieces I like best are those with delicate fabric effects. The shapes I find sometimes a bit ‘crude’, if that is the correct term, but her strong point seems to be really meticulous and beautiful embroidery and textile effects. Nice to know that she has her own shop now.

Did her show tonight for couture in Paris - absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything approaching the level of detailing on some of the garments. The pictures will probably be online in the next few days.

I'm not so happy with fall 07, but then again, the pictures are incredibly small and seem to have too little contrast to see them very clearly
Apparently she had a show on July 2, 2008, although I haven't seen documentation of it online yet.

Xuan-Thu was born in Vietnam and came
to the Netherlands when she was three
years old. Her parents started their own
clothing manufacturing business in Oss (NL).
Since her early childhood she has been
well-acquainted with the clothing industry.

In mid-1999 Xuan-Thu graduated with
honours from the fashion academy
“Charles Montaigne / Hogeschool van
Amsterdam” in Amsterdam and immediately thereafter, participated in
a fashion show in San Paolo.

In December 1999, she was invited to participate in a presentation to the press for new Dutch and Belgian designers in Antwerp (Belgium).

In April 2000 Xuan-Thu was awarded a
grant from the Netherlands Postcode
Lottery as part of the Lottery’s programme
to help young talented designers achieve
their artistic goals. She was also chosen
to participate in a fashion show in Gorizia
(Italy) with thirty-nine other young designers from around the world.
