Yadim Carranza, known simply as Yadim, is a Mexican-American make-up artist born in San Diego, California. He started out as a sales assistant for MAC Cosmetics, and soon joined the brand's professional make-up team, with Katherine Ensslen, executive director of international collections. He moved to New York City, where he became assistant to Pat McGrath, known for her high-color make-up looks for Prada, Christian Dior and Viktor & Rolf shows, before beginning a solo career in 2011. His profile grew quickly, and through projects with photographers Tom Munro, Lachlan Bailey, Sharif Hamza and Hans Feurer, he went his own way, pushing make-up over and above what is "simply pretty, to make it a bit strange". Yadim has no qualms about taking this concept to the extreme. For him: "the worst faux-pas is not having any taste...". He was named International Make-Up Designer for Dior in January 2012.
