He was so confident in his aesthetic that it looks like an Alber collection already but not too overpowering.
Using the colors of YSL Rivé Gauche logo was a gamble but it works.
The contrast between this collection and the following one is probably one of the biggest mystery of Alber’s career.

I think he hadn't found his footing yet as a Spring/Summer designer. He found it at Lanvin where he was able to inject a little more of his own sensibility into his tenure but here at YSL he was probably a little unsure. Perhaps he was also aware that he was chosen as an interim designer as opposed to a longer term one so probably didn't invest too much of himself into the house too.
