The Chambre Syndicale in Paris — which is sort of like the CFDA, but French and more high high fashion — has named its new members and associate members, bringing the total fashion houses in this elite group to almost a hundred. The new Chambre Syndicale–approved labels are Azzaro, Carven, Damir Doma, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Thimister, Véronique Leroy, and New York's very own Zac Posen.
wwd.

Guess his Paris appearance paid off? It baffles me how they can elect him and not people like Elbaz or Ghesquire.

Oh. I'm happy for Damir Doma and Josephus Thimister. But Zac Posen? Are you serious?

And is the Baptista label really continued? I thought he went to Lacoste and discountinued...

Well. That's unexpected. And he's only even been showing in Paris for what, two season?

Definitely a political move on the part of the Chambre Syndicale to be more inclusive and keep the powers that be at American Vogue happy. And hopefully, by being a member and associate of the CS, Zac's designs will evolve to be less tacky.

Who am I kidding-- it's Zac Posen.

oh, my god!! this is so major- damir doma & felipe baptista?! soooo excited.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it label and company based? I'm pretty sure Lanvin and Balenciaga have been/are members and are therefore included. Elbaz and Ghesquiere don't carry own labels but Posen does.

^ Yeah that's what I thought immediately after after I wrote that post. I think you're right, because the Haute Couture "status" follows the house not the designer.

Hum ... I think they shud laxe the rules or start marketing something like demi-couture or such ... nowadays everything is about diffusion lines, mon cheres!

Honestly, Im like .. whatever.

WHAT? Oh, dear, yet another of those things were name and politics come before quality work..
