Zuhair Murad Haute Couture F/W 2023.24 Paris

It’s funny to see him copy Frida Giannini’s Gucci.

Tbh, Zuhair Murad cracked the code. His entire career is based on copying Elie Saab and all the designers in the « sexy lane ». And he made a fortune out of it. I guess kudos to him.

No amount of fabrics can hide the fact that those clothes looks like copies. When you are confident after so many years, you should able to remove instead of add.

I love a Zuhair collection. Every time, it’s like a fashion roulette - who will he be copying? From Frida’s Gucci to Christophe’s Balmain, no one is safe.

I cant think of any reason to go to him other than I have clothes from x designer already that I like and need more stuff added to it that x designer never produced. Though why would anyone go to him over Dior is unknown.

It’s cheaper…
And it’s quite a known name.
But there’s literally no offer on daywear here. It’s pure special occasion dresses…Similar to Elie Saab in a way but Mr Saab has a much higher cachet, dresses princesses and queens and lives the lifestyle of his clientele.

I also think that Saab's higher cache is that his house has more strongly defined tiers with a solid ready-to-wear presence: the extremely opulent Haute Couture is visually different from his more casual ready-to-wear and they serve different market too. Elie Saab is like the Middle East's answer to Chanel.

Murad's collections are much more homogenous, causing the two sides to cannibalise each other.
