Cows Milk vs. Soy Milk?

humans have been drinking milk (whether it's cow's milk, goat milk, etc.) for THOUSANDS of years and have benefited from it. Of course of a vegan will write about how BAD diary is for you and our bodies aren't meant for animal products, I've heard it all, but have never seen any scientific evidence that show's this applies to ALL humans.

I will say it again, I think it's all in the way it's processed. A balanced, organic diet is the best way to go.
So you've never spoken to somebody who is lactose intolerant? I find that amazing because I know so many people, including my sister, whose lives are made miserable by dairy products. :innocent:

Oh and whenever I have more than just a scraping of dairy on something, I get runny poops. I thought you might find that interesting : D

Well, i'm not lactose intolerant, but I AM allergic to milk. Two totally different things. I know whats it's like to suffer the consequences of a scoop of ice cream. My dad, my mom and sister are all lactose intolerant they all didn't drink milk growing up, but my dad got into nutrition back in the 90's and insisted I drink three glasses of milk a day, I hated it and I think milk was the cause of most of my allergies, but i am five inches taller than my family :P, maybe the hormones caused my height to increase but not my boob size, like it has with girls now (yes I think early puberty and big boobs are caused by the artificial hormones in cow's milk)

Considering evolution, consuming animal protein has benefited man, but it is the INCREASE of consumption that causes problems. Again, I def, don't think milk is for everyone, def not me, but I won't say it's BAD for everyone.

You're constantly comparing humans with animals but you haven't considered a huge difference between them: humans are the only species who live after they stop being reproductively active. After menopause women's oestrogenic levels decrease very significantly and eostrogens have a important paper regulating the osseus mass. It also hapens with men and testosterone but at a minor level and at an older age. After menopause there's a decompensation between the bone degradation and formation (two processes which are constantly taking place in our bones), there's more degradation, that means our calcium levels decrease because we storage calcium in our bones. Animals can get the calcium they need from their diet because they're going to die when they reach a certain age, but we humans need higher storage levels because we go on living even if the sexual hormones that have a paper regulating bone mass and calcium storage levels decrease. The amount of calcium we get from food is not enough, we need an extra source, whether it's cow milk or not it's up to you.

There's a very long explanation for why some people are lactose intolerant and some aren't. If you are interested I can tell you, just remember that if you are lactose intolerant you shouldn't drink cow milk but you are perfectly capable of eating cheese and yogur, unless you are incredibly lactose intolerant which is extremely unlikely.

i dont drink milk really. Only have it in tea really but its cows milk all the way.

I think we can all agree that cow milk isn't what it use to be unless you get it from a more natural source than typical clear jug at the supermarket. If you can find someone local who sells fresh cows milk, that's the route to go

Hardly! I have a few pet gerbils; female gerbils rarely have (viable) litters after one year of age, but they can live up to four years. In fact, they seem to really enjoy their "glory years," becoming quite tender and affectionate with their partners.

The cow milk we can buy in grocery shops has never seen cow before.. :P
Anyway i prefer cow milk than soy cause my stomach is weak for soy milk. :(

But it's only four years, not 20 or 30 as humans.

My Dr. told me to quit dairy b/c it is not a health food and not good for people. I'm lactose intolerant anyway, so I try to avoid it. It makes sense that its not good for people though. Humans are the only mammals that continue to drink milk after they are adults and the milk of something other than their mothers.

^ I don't know. Some doctors say this, some that.. There was a time when they said we shouldn't eat eggs and now we should.. O.o So i better eat what my body wants = i feel hungry for, and not forgeting about vegetables and fruits.

^ Yeah it's hard to know what is good for you and what's not sometimes because there are so many differing opinions these days.

It's true that there isn't a universal model for anything - the only thing that is true is that if you do some form of moderate exercise, eat vegetables and fruit and are happy - you'll generally have a healthy body and mind.

hey.. i just moved to the states and im lactose intolerant and im surprisingly having trouble finding lactose free products. There is lactose free milk here and of course soy products, but i want lactose free yoghurt! i looked in trader joe's and whole foods and cannot find anything. can anyone help me out?

ohh and can some one tell me a bit more about almond milk? so its lactose free.. but is it good for u? i mean i know ur only supposed to have up to 7 almonds a day, because of the fat, so how can u drink almond milk ? isnt it fattening and doesnt it have a lot of calories? is soy milk better in that sense?

Even if you are lactose intolerant you can eat normal yoghurt and cheese, they don't have the same effect as milk.

lactose intolerance and milk allergies are not natural. They are because of bad imunities that we all have due to the way we over clean everything, eat food thats been bleached etc... in the days where food was not processed and all natural (200 yrs ago) noone had half of the allergies we have today.
