Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

I saw Pierpaolo daughter wore Versace to the met. Maybe that’s his next move?

Fashion needs to go to...nowhere ? I don't expect Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Gucci etc becoming as big as Apple, Google, Alibaba, Microsoft,...

Fashion corporations can never reach the market capitalization of technology corporations and many other sectors. Nor should they ever be.
And what do technology companies have to do with my previous message? Sorry, I don’t get it 🤔

In regards to Ackermann, I always had the impression he loved fame and recognition. If no important brand asked him to work for them when he was actually a thing, who on Earth would want him in 2025? Nobody. Also, he’s pretty much a one trick pony…

PPP… as inoffensive as he was at Valentino, I think there’s no need for more him either.

1. Givenchy, as much as it is dying, still hold prestige and definitely needs someone who understands couture. I really believe Sarah Burton has all the right skills to do the job. Obviously it would be interesting to see her own vision at Givenchy.

2. Kim Jones need to go. The Dior menswear section really becomes ghost town. Boring, uneventful and utterly pointless. I would rather spend money on maison or women’s bags.

3. I still think KJ at Fendi was such a bad move. The studio and Silvia did much better job between KJ appointment. The Fendi accessories are still selling (at least from every time I visit their boutiques) but no one is buying womenswear. Ladies sometimes come grab menswear for hubbies. It is so sad because Fendi use to be quirkily elegant.

A waste of his talent. But nice money and easy work tho. Maybe that’s just more important.

I think it’s just temporary partnership based on his previous movements - he is focused on climate change and sustainability etc. I don’t think they go fashion shows etc.
You're probably right ... though I do think there is room for competition in front of Moncler, and I would love to see a competition to Moncler, but that would need a multi-years commitment from AH and large financial investments from Canada Goose backers.

From what I'm told they are still hesitant as to where to take Givenchy, hence why they're reviewing profiles from Tiefenthaler to Sarah Burton. Toledano is also back in the picture from what I heard, so let's see who he and Delphine will end up picking.

They should wait for Daniel Lee to leave Burberry at this point and restructure the business…

I love the idea... Although...

He is at its best when he has full control over a brand, from design to image, he has proven that at Bottega Veneta. He gets a lot of heated reactions here at tFS but like it or not, he made BV the hottest brand while he was at the helm. Everything made sense from his collections to how he showed them. It looks like he has way less control at Burberry, and you can tell as the whole thing looks like he's suffocating -- and I suspect he is not getting along so well with the top execs (which allegedly contributed to his demise at Bottega...).

Now I don't know how willing would LVMH be to take on this kind of profile, as they are known to be hands on with their brands.

There is also the issue of all these "Burberry doesn't sell" articles that don't play in his favour... I'm always baffled when the responsibility is put entirely on the shoulders of creative directors, when there are multiple key positions within a house that have the responsibility to ensure that products are selling and these people are never questioned... but I digress... I doubt one would want to poach a designer who's been giving a very mid performance creatively along with poor sales to save a fashion house that's currently suffering.

I would have believed in him for Givenchy... But only if he hired back his footwear and LG designers from Bottega. LVMH would want to kick off a new Givenchy era with a it bag or a it shoe, and I'm sure they'd have been capable to produce that. I think he would have really benefited from the craftsmanship and savoir-faire of the house. You see the difference between what BV provided to him vs at Burberry now.

In the end, it's a pity he took on Burberry. Everyone knew that MW would end up getting fired he should have waited some extra time because he would have been great for the job imo...

i think his pov is not strong enough for a dying house like givenchy. theres 2 ways they can tackle givenchy either by getting someone with a really strong vision and has the technical skills for it like michele was in gucci or someone who can make very commercial, well tailored clothes and can establish a silhouette for the new givenchy that isnt necessarily groundbreaking like mary grace at Dior.

None of those 2 are daniel im afraid, he needs an established name to be heard. And after Burberry which sould have been a perfect pairing, i think he has lost his steam and needs a break. Even with the poor pricing strategy, the consumers would have been more interested if he delivered a knock-out hit of a collection but so far he hasnt.
