How do you care about leather soles on high heels ?

Leather soles are so stupid, they get damaged sooo fast. Even just walking from the car to a store a few times is enough to damage it... Especially on high heels where most of the weight is on the front of the foot. What do you do about it, do you just wear the shoes until the sole is worn then take it to a cobbler to re-sole it ? Do you simply take every expensive pair that you have to the cobbler to have some protection installed as soon as you buy the shoes ? Do you just avoid any walking on concrete ?

I've always thought about that! And finally about 3 weeks ago I took a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals to my local shoe repair shop and had an extra sole put on. I hesitated because I was thinking the extra sole could make the shoe look ugly but you can't even tell. I was very happy with the results. I'll post a picture of them this weekend to see what you guys think.
