Kim Jones - Designer, Creative Director of Fendi & Dior Men

Raf is going to Dior Men’s. After he ruined the Dior Women, the LVMH wants him for another round of non-selling duds.
2024 is looking up!!

This would hardly make sense and not even in line with their hires

Total trolling! Meant it as a joke… sorry… guess hard to read “joke” in a written form on a forum.

Dior is holding it's next Pre-Fall Menswear show in Hong Kong on March 23:
Dior Sets Date for Men’s Pre-fall Show in Hong Kong
The runway show is scheduled for March 23.

SAVE THE DATE:
Dior has penciled in March 23 as the date for its men’s pre-fall runway show in Hong Kong, breaking with its tradition of unveiling the collection in December.

While the brand did not give a reason for the switch, late March is traditionally a busy period for events in China. The Dior show will coincide with the first edition of ComplexCon Hong Kong, due to take place from March 22 to 24, marking the first foreign edition of the festival to be held outside of North America.

Shanghai Fashion Week is set to kick off on March 25, while the Art Basel Hong Kong fair is scheduled from March 28 to 30. The Dior collection is due to arrive in stores from May.

Kim Jones, artistic director of menswear at Dior, unveiled the pre-fall line in Miami in 2019 ahead of Art Basel Miami Beach, and is known for his close connection to contemporary artists, collaborating with the likes of Kenny Scharf, Peter Doig, Kaws and Daniel Arsham. Last year, he presented the collection in front of the pyramids of Giza.

Coming on the heels of the Louis Vuitton men’s pre-fall show in Hong Kong last November, the planned Dior event signals parent company LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s confidence in the growth outlook for the historic luxury hub. Dior has yet to announce the show location.

It will mark the French luxury house’s return to Hong Kong after a women’s haute couture show in 2014 and a men’s display in 2016. Present in Hong Kong since 1980, Dior has 11 boutiques there, of which six carry its menswear line.

Hong Kong is emerging from a challenging period, with antigovernment protests in 2019 followed by protracted border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, strangling tourism flows.

Hong Kong’s retail sales rose 17.1 percent between January and November 2023 compared with the same period the previous year, according to figures released by the Census and Statistics Department on Thursday.

It quoted a government spokesman as saying that the value of total retail sales increased visibly in November amid a revival of inbound tourism.

Dior Men's Pre-Fall 2024 Collection Show in Hong Kong Postponed Indefinitely

The show was scheduled to take place in late March.

The highly-anticipated Dior (PARIS:CDI.PA +0.63%) Men’s show in Hong Kong, which was scheduled for March 23, has been “postponed indefinitely.”

According to the South China Morning Post, the city’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau received word about the show’s postponement from organizers on the evening of February 23. A specific reason for the postponement was not provided, nor were any additional details given regarding a possible rescheduled date.

The Dior Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection show was due to take place at the city’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, with artistic director Kim Jones set to travel to Hong Kong to present the show. It would have followed Pharrell and Louis Vuitton‘s Hong Kong show in late November 2023, where they presented the brand’s Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection.

These collabs are his crutch. It’s too transparant but obviously very focused towards a niche market. I find this whole approach so discount and cheap. The name Dior means terrifyingly little these days. The biggest crime is how insanely uncool this is.

rant incoming lol lazy collabs aside why is he so bad with colours ? a lot can be said about his limitations as a designer when it comes to construction and silhouettes but kj's biggest weakness imo is his colourblindness, a flattering palette would elevate his attempts at designing from a 3 out of 10 to a solid 4,5. someone needs to give him a few copies of sanzo wada's dictionary of colour combinations and johannes itten's the art of colour (or teach him how to use those books properly if he already has them), as a corrective action maybe include a well illustrated PDF summarising chevreul's and klee's works on colour theory.

he seems like a nice guy but omg its truly appalling how a creative director at dior and fendi is completely clueless when it comes to one of the most important elements in fashion design: colour perception. KJ's constantly manages to pick the ugliest hues and not even in a prada ugly chic kinda way, its just plain ugly bc he truly believes his dreadful palettes are actually beautiful lol its so annoying. end rant:judge:

He stopped working a long time, people in his studios have been complaining about his absences for years, he left fashion years ago ... collabs are indeed his crutches
