Are they slowly taking over the US Bazaar aesthetic? Because the they all look quite US Bazaar to me.

The Viola Davis one reminds me a lot of Michelle Obama.

I agree with this observation! The Viola Davis is short of being an American Vogue cover.

Yesterday marked the end of an era for me when I cancelled my British Harper's Bazaar subscription, and with the unveiling of these covers I'm glad I did. It was a long-time coming following the abolishment of special covers for us subscribers and the usual fashion stories photographed by the likes of Erik Madigan Heck appearing within every single issue of the magazine.

The Anya Taylor-Joy cover is somewhat tolerable (which judging by the team involved will also make the Australian/New Zealand edition) but the rest are incredibly pedestrian and a total non-event.

any of the covers is striking enough and with all of them there’s something off putting (especially the face expressions).

if I had to pick one, I’d say Anya is the winner here.

Anya’s shoot is simply beautiful; graphic, dramatic, clean and still soft-- even though it's a Dior advertorial down to the makeup (except for the Tiffany jewelry). Visually, toning down on the saturation would go a long way. Same with Lauren’s shoot. The other shoots are utterly forgettable and looks more appropriate for 2000s InStyle.

Viola's cover is 100% US Vanity Fair cover material and I like it! The others, sadly, fall flat for me.

I had thought Anya's shot would be the main newsstand cover, but looking on eBay, I see print copies of not only her cover, but Viola's and Lauren's. One eBay listing even had the option to purchase covers we haven't seen (yet?) including Sienna Miller, and The Queen.

The more covers there are, the greater the chances of receiving one that you don't want as your subscription copy.
