What to wear on TV?

My birthday is tuesday and my boyfriend is taking me to a taping of Americans Funniest Home Videos (my FAVORITE show!) in LA. What is the best color to wear for television? Im told not to wear white, I have to be somewhat dressed up, but nothing to trendy. Any ideas?

I´d wear sth simple, very good make-up and hair, and clothes that will not make me look too big, on tv you always look heavier.
